9 Years and Counting...

I can't believe its been 9 years since we got married! Where has the time gone? Anyway, we celebrated our anniversary last week and I'm only getting around to posting this card now. Now that we share an office, I had to make this card when my DH wasn't around. Luckily he doesn't reallly pay attention to my "work" while I'm making it, so it didn't ruin the surprise. This card looks more like a Valentine's Day card than an Anniversary card, but I wanted to use red because that was one of our colors from the wedding. Supplies: Couple stamp- CC's Designs Cardstock- Bazzil Flowers- Prima, All Natural Accents Crystals- Kaisercraft DP- scraps from my stash

Happy Belated Birthday Debi!

My crafting buddy Debi recently celebrated a birthday and I was stressing out about making her a card. So much so that I kept putting it off, and now her birthday has past, so I was forced to make something! Anyway, since she makes AWESOME cards, I felt pressure making one for her.. It didn't come out exactly how I wanted it to, but since I'm so late, it'll have to do.
Decided to make a double shaker card that I learned from Teri's blog... I still have a hard time with it, so its not perfect. I know Debi will love this bunny stamp by LOTV, so I knew he would be the focal point of the card. I put the sentiment at the back layer and the bunny on the layer in between the two shakers and then flowers on the top of the card. Hope she likes it!
Here's a close up of the bunny...
Here's the bag I made to hold her gift.
Supplies:
  • Bunny stamp- LOTV
  • Happy Birthday sentiment- SU
  • DP- SU and Bo Bunny
  • Flowers- prima
  • Pearl brads- American Crafts
  • Dew Drops- Robin's nest

Sweet Box In A Bag

Here's my other box in a bag. I modified it a little since the Doodlebug paper is not heavy weight and I was afraid it might rip. I thought this paper was so cute with all the sweets on it that I found a way to make it work. I ended up adding another strip of cardstock to the top of the bag to give the top more weight. For fun, I added a strip across the top so that it looked like a handbag. Secured it using a velcro dot again- I love how this came out and will definitely be making more in the future! Thanks for stopping by and leaving such nice comments! Supplies: Cardstock- Bazzil DP- Doodlebug Designs Flower- Prima Brad- American Crafts Scallop Border punch- Fiskars

Origami Box

This cool origami box totally wow'd me when I saw it on Patti's blog... If you haven't visited her blog yet, you gotta check it out. She normally provides instructions for most of her projects and they are so cute! Just had to try one for myself. It was a little tricky at first, but now I got the hang of it and its not as hard as I thought!
Here's what the box looks like when its opened. The cool thing is that its actually one piece!

More RAKs I forgot to post!

Boy oh boy have I been bad about posting RAKs! Forgot to post this cute RAK from Donna. She made these sweet baskets out of packages for Girl's Day. I love the paper she used to make the basket! Thank you Donna! Next, Debi made me a goodie bag for Girl's Day too. She even included a Pink Gem Designs stamp! So cute! Then my cousin Laura gave me lots of stuff including a Hello Kitty recycle bag!! :) Woo Hoo! Now I have the green one and the pink one! Thank you Laura! Finally- Aunty Jan sent me some awesome paper by Best Creation- Sorry no photo but I'll make something soon with it. She's so sweet- all I asked her was where she got the paper she used on my other Aunty's card and then she mailed some to me, along with more paper that I didn't even ask her about! She also sent me some mini milk cartons that she cut for me using her SU die. I'm so happy because I ordered the die but it was on back order, so I can still make some stuff until my order arrives. Thank you Aunty! I'm so lucky to have such great friends and family!

Side Step Card Link

Happy Saturday! Is everyone enjoying their long weekend? I'm so tired and its only Saturday! We had a company picnic yesterday and my section was in charge of coordinating it. Luckily it stopped raining where we had our picnic and it turned out to be a beautiful day! The kids loved playing in the water (there was actually a small sandy area that resembled a beach) and we did a mini egg hunt for them. Here's my DD and her BFF after they got their goodie bags. My DD is such a ham- she wore her bunny mask the whole time she was hunting for eggs!
So the main reason I'm posting right now is because I received a special request for the tutorial link for the side step card I made a few posts earlier. There are several blogs that I found the instructions on but I used Julie Davidson's tutorial for mine, which also had a drawing of the template to follow, which I thought came in handy. Enjoy!

Cherry Emma Box In A Bag

Totally forgot to post this project earlier.. It was my first attempt at a Box In A Bag. I know- you all have done it before, but its my first time, so I guess I'm a Box in a Bag virgin! Anyway- it was much easier than I anticipated. Found the instructions on splitcoast stampers and it was easy to follow. I think I stayed away from it because I didn't have the SU tab punch, so I substituted it by using some velcro dots to keep the bag closed. I also added ribbon handles for a different look. This bag is pretty good sized much larger than your average treat bag. Hope you have a good weekend! Supplies: Cherry Emma- CC's Designs Copics- Markers DP- Bo Bunny Cardstock- Bazzil Ribbon Circle and scallop circle punch- Marvy Velcro dot (inside bag)

March OCS card from Mama

I was thrilled to get my card for the March OCS hosted by Teri. If you haven't participated in this swap yet, you really should- its not a lot of pressure since its only one card and its fun to meet other crafters and share ideas.
As I mentioned earlier when I posted the card I made for the OCS, my partner for March was 1 Luvn Mama. I was so happy since she makes beautiful cards and had just sent me a thank you card for the calendar I made for her. Well, she did not disappoint! I love this card! She chose to make a tent card using one of the spring elves from the new Sweet November set. I never made this type of card before, but I've been inspired to try it out now! She used some jump rings to hang the elf down from the top of the oval. What a great idea! I'm gonna totally CASE that! And don't you just love the little bunny in the corner?
j
Check out her beautiful coloring!
Here's a side view of the card so you can see that its a tent...
Thank you Mama! Love it!!

Bugs and Kisses

I saw this side step card in many galleries online and thought it was another neat card to try. Love this new CC's Sugarplum stamp called Lil' Bug Emma. Don't you just love her belly? I took this photo before I added small punched butterflies- sorry.. use your imagination for me K? Anyway, needed a sentiment to match this card and found this "Bugs and Kisses" sentiment from a mini Hero Arts set that included a little bee, ladybug and Hershey Kiss stamp. I thought it matched since Emma was dressed as a butterfly. Tracy gave me a great idea to try next time I make this card- she said to use a photo instead of a sentiment! I'll have to try that out the next time I make this! Hi Everyone! I finally got my act together and made my card for the March OCS. This month I was partnered up with 1 Luvn Mama!!! So, here's the card I made for Mama... I am still practicing making the Double Display Card that Brenda posted on her blog. Click here for instructions...

Monkeying Around

I love this new monkey set by CC's designs! He's definitely cuter than the average monkey. Decided to go out of my comfort zone and use colors I don't normally use in my projects- boy colors! Anyway, I love this Doodlebug paper and thought it would match nicely with the monkey.
Here's a close up of the monkey. Did you notice I colored the ladybugs blue too? Ladybugs are blue in Hawaii... I don't think I've seen a red one yet!

Balloon Emma is Back!

What can I say? I love this stamp! Little Emma is so cute and I seriously have a weakness for characters holding balloons!
Decided to keep the layout simple so that the image would stand out. Since Emma is sitting down, I thought I'd use the stump stamp so she'd have something to sit on. That's the great thing about CC's, they make cool acessories to go with their stamps!
Here's a close up of Emma...
Supplies:
  • Emma stamp- CC's Designs

Large Gift Bag

While playing around with the dimensions of the mini tote bag I posted earlier, I thought- why can't I make a larger gift bag? The mini gift bag used 2 6x6 pieces of cardstock to make the bag, so I adjusted the measurements to use 2 12x12 sheets of cardstock and here's what I came up with...

The finished size of this bag is 7 3/8" x 9 1/2". I'd say its comparable to the average gift bag size and is fairly wide so it can hold a good sized gift. Don't laugh at my bows! They are to crooked, I know. Since the DP I used was so pretty, I decided to leave the bag plain and just accent it with the pretty ribbon. DP is by Fancy Pants. I actually bought this DP for my upcoming class, but had a lot of leftover, so I used it for my experiment. I love how it came out- crooked bows and all!

Thank You from 1 Luvn Mama

Hello Everyone!
I felt really bad because I got this "gorguss" GG card from 1 Luvn Mama and misplaced it! I finally found it on my dining room table. Yay! Anyway, I was so thrilled to get this card- she did a great job coloring and used one of my favorite color combos... light green and turquoise!
She's so nice to send me this thank you card for the blog candy I sent her last month. I love it!
Here's a close up of the GG.

Emma Mini Tote Bag

Happy Sunday! Hope all of you were able to get to the Island Scrapbooking Spring Cleaning Sale yesterday. Boy am I tired! Everyone seemed to be really happy with all the good deals they got both at the sale and for the In Store Specials. Here's a project I made using the new CC's Designs that are in the store now. Isn't Emma holding the balloon so cute?? I love how she's also sitting down. This bag was really easy to make using my score-pal... I'm pretty sure you can increase the measurements to get a larger bag too... I'll try it out and let you know if it works. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Supplies:
  • Sugarplums Emma stamp- CC's Designs

Hi Everyone... Just a note to everyone in Hilo that there is a Spring Cleaning Sale going on at Island Scrapbooking today. I'll be helping out the girls since its a big sale day.. hope to see you there! Jenny

RAK for Laura

My cousin Laura gave me a RAK- which I haven't taken photos of yet.. but Thank you Laura! Here's the RAK I made for her. I put some Island Scrapbooking laser cuts inside since you can't get those anywhere but the store.
I decided to try a new box/bag and found this tutorial on the flowerbug inkspot blog... I guess I made it wrong since its supposed to have a flap! Oh well, I like how it came out anyway. I can't seem to remember what the name of the girl is, but I know she's from the Greeting Farm... I also can't remember the company that made this paper. Sorry! I'm so junk right now!
Here's the close up...
And.. here's the side view so you can see that its a goodie bag.

Michelle's Baby Shower

My cousin is having a baby boy in July, but since she was home for her mom's birthday, her family decided to throw her a baby shower. I had to get photos of all the handmade stuff! Above is the card I made for her... I really like this Two Scoops Rice Design image- its so sweet! It didn't match the jungle animal theme, but I didn't care.
Here's my cousin with the shadowbox frame I gave her. I know... I didn't take a close up of the image.. Sorry! I used Mindy Terawa's Little Safari animals and papers. I figure she could use it to frame a photo of the baby after he arrives.
This next photo is of the card my Aunty Jan made for my cousin (Aunty Jan is not her mom). Can you believe she actually apologized for this card??? She said she made it at 2 o'clock in the morning... Looks pretty darn cute to me!
Here's the inside of the card...
Finally, here's Laura's card... Check out her blog for info on where to get the instructions for this card. The site is really cool- lots of punch art! I can't believe she made this baby using punches!!! I'm so gonna copy this.
Here's the cupcakes we got to eat.. my DD LOVED the finger puppets on each cupcake.

Happy Birthday Aunty!

Yes, its been another busy week for us... After last weekend's baby shower for my cousin, my sister and mom flew to Hilo for a short visit.. then we went back to Honolulu for my Aunty's 60th Birthday party. We tried to make it a surprise, but she said she suspected it. Oh well, at least we tried.
I guess I've been so busy, I didn't take a photo of the invitation I made... but the card I made (shown here) is pretty similar to the invite. I decided to make it an easel card, but needed to also make it a gift card holder... so I just added a pocket so that I could slip the gift card into the pocket.
Here's what the card looked like opened...
I also took a photo of the gift card holder part. Here's a photo of the favors I made (with the help of my DH). We decided to go with the take out box since the theme was Year of the Tiger. I really like the spellbinder die I used here- reminds me of asian stuff, so I thought it matched the theme. BTW, the tiger was drawn and colored my my sister! Isn't it awesome? Thank you Denise! I had such a hard time finding a tiger to use for the party stuff, so I asked my sis to design something for me and this is one of the designs she came up with. Thank goodness she colored them on the computer too, so it was less work for me.
I'll post more stuff soon... I'm exhausted!
Supplies:
Take out box- Sizzix

Double Display Ruby

Hi Everyone! Thought I'd take another stab at the Double Display card. I think this card is so cool that I wanted to make it again. Because I had some leftover scraps, I decided to make the card using all my scraps. The Label actually tucks under Ruby (The Greeting Farm) so that the card will stay closed. Here's what the card looks like when its opened.
Supplies:
Ruby stamp- The Greeting Farm
DP- Bo Bunny
Cardstock- Bazzil
Happy Birthday stamp- Hero Arts

Sassy Suzy Gift Bag

Recognize this gift bag?? Well, I decided to recycle it and give it to Island Scrapbooking as a sample. I made it earlier for a Nutshell's Challenge when I was a guest DT member, but since Island Scrapbooking carries Greeting Farm, I changed the image to Sassy Suzy and added more flowers.
See? I'm still on the red hair kick. With the red hair and green clothes, she's almost Irish! Just in time for St. Patrick's Day!
Here's a close up of Suzy...

Happy Belated Birthday Les!

My friend Les' b-day was last month and I only gave her her b-day present this week! I'm even later on another friend's b-day from January, so I need to get my act together and make some stuff!!! Sorry Les! Anyway, I wanted to use this new Greeting Farm Stamp called Gigi. She reminds me of Les- I think its the hair... Anyway, I'm still on that yellow kick, so she's wearing yellow too. I wanted to use this cool daisy paper I found at Island Scrapbooking, so I found the part of the paper that had the largest daisy cluster and used that as the background. Here's a close up of Gigi... Isn't she cute?? I also made Les this cupcake gift card holder.... 1 Luvn Mama posted it on her website and I was so impressed with it that I had to try it for myself. Mine didn't come out as nice since it was the first one I made, but I think it came out OK. You can see the binderclip sticking out... I don't know how they hide theirs so good! Here's the side view... I could tell from Les' face that she didn't know that it was a gift card holder. I wrote in her card to pull on the top flower but she didn't, so I had to tell her to do it. She must've been thinking to herself... gee thanks for the cupcake- what do I do with it! hee hee. Good thing I made her open it in front of me, so I had to tell her how to get her gift card out.
Anyway, hope she likes it... I gotta try make that cupcake again.. Practice makes perfect!
