My CBFF (Debi) gave me this oh so cute Girl's day bag! I'm pretty sure she made it with a top note die and covered a small paper bag as the base. Love how she accented it with cherry blossoms and the tiny kokeshi doll from Dandelion Designs. So cute! Inside was yummy strawberry gummies, which are already gone! Thanks Debi! Guess I'd better go work on mine now!
Island Scrapbooking brought in some of these new SWALK stamps. Their girls are so cute! Don't ask me what SWALK stands for cause I'm still trying to figure it out.
So I decided that since she was watering a flower, I'd put her on a watering can. Found the template on Splitcoast and printed it on the back of the DP I wanted to use. After putting the watering can together, I punched out grass from my MS punch and lined the bottom of the can with it for a grassy effect. I popped up the SWALK girl for some dimension and voila! Done! I just think these watering cans are so cute!
I wanted to get in the girl's day mood, so I searched for some of my japanese girl stamps. Forgot about this Hero Arts clear set and decided to ink it up for old time's sake. I've been trying out stamp layering and thought it might be cool on this card. Started with the ledger background cling stamp in Antique Linen (Distress). Then I stamped the Happiness kanji stamp and the cherry blossom branch from Stampendous. Love it! Kept with the brown theme instead of black ink and I love how it turned out! Finally stamped the girl and added a fan to her hand. After coloring in all the flowers, I decided to add some diamond glaze for a lacquer effect. Here's a close up look of this asian cutie.
I've been seeing these neat treat box cards all over the blogs and finally made one myself. Got the instructions from Splitcoast Stampers (click here). It was actually pretty easy to put together and the box is big enough to hold different types of candies or other goodies. I knew nuggets would fit, so Michele helped me cover some up with matching DP, which really helped to dress up the left side of the card. Thanks Michele! Think I'll go make some more!
Yes, unfortunately I had to make a bunch of sympathy cards again, mainly for people we work with. Did a bunch up in the same layout, just used different colors... Here's a close up of my favorite one...
Yes, I'm a copy cat. I couldn't help myself. I saw a card made by Robin ("cardrageous") on the Hero Arts blog, which took me to Flickr where I started browsing her cards. I totally fell in love with the card that looks like this one and got inspired to copy it. I love the colors she used too, so I used the same colors. She used the canvas stripe stamp for the lower half of her card, but I don't have that stamp (yet), so I just left it as is. Added some scattered pearls to my card and just stamped the sentiment over the flowers.
Since its been at Island Scrapbooking, this card has caught the attention of our regulars. Unfortunately I can't take credit for the design, so I'll happily give credit where credit is due. Thanks Robin! I love your work!
Awhile back, I asked Denise if she knew where I could get the instructions for these cute tea box. She was so nice to send me the directions- Thanks Denise! I only got around to making it now. I really liked this plaid paper by Echo Park and knew I wanted to use it on my project. Decided to go with a different colored than to go with all plaid.
I just got this Sugar stamp called County Girl by CC's Designs. I thought she was cute and really like her braids. I had to hang her off the edge since she would've blocked the opening where the tea is supposed to come out. Since there was a lot of room on the side of her, I decided to fill it up with a felt flower I cut using my spellbinders. This felt is 100% wood from PTI. I must admit that this is the first time I've used it (after having it for a few months now). I just had to buy it after Debi raved about it, and she was so right! It's thicker than most felt and cuts really easily. Added a button for the middle of my flower- now I need to go buy more buttons!

I think this is the last of my Valentine's Day cards. I really wanted to use the new My Mind's Eye paper that came in at Island Scrapbooking. I love that they have a lot of small prints- perfect for cardmakers!

Our club had our annual dinner this past Saturday night at Restaurant Miwa. It was a night of good food and good fun! We always give a little something to each other and this is what I came up with for this year. I decided to use my sister's bunnies again since its year of the rabbit. Chinese New Year was the previous week, but I thought it was close enough to still use this theme.
Decided to go with the take out box and cut out a heart using my spellbinders and added some acetate for a window. I found some chocolate covered fortune cookies at Big Island Delights that just fit into the box! Phew! I wasn't about to dip and package my own, so I was grateful they fit just right!

And here's our annual club photo. I think it came out nice this year.. you can tell our waiter had a lot of experience since he had to take about 10 photos using 10 different cameras!
OK- how many of you out there watch Gossip Girl? Yes, its my guilty pleasure that drive's my DH insane! He can't stand that show and always makes fun of the tag line- "X-O-X-O" whenever I'm watching it. All I can say is that he's very lucky we don't have digital cable in our office, so I have to watch it in the living room.
Back to the card... so while making this card for Island Scrapbooking, I ran across an old Hero Arts Valentine's Day set that had the sentiment "XOXO". I couldn't help myself and decided to use this stamp as my sentiment. This Anya girl kinda looks like she would live on the upper east side, so I thought it was a perfect match! When I showed it to my DH, I told him that this was going to be his Valentine's Day card! Ha ha ha ha ha!
Well, it just wouldn't be Gossip Girl without a little bling bling, so I added crystals as an accent along with some roses by Wild Orchid Crafts and Prima. The heart background is just a doily- perfect for Valentine's Day.

Wowee! What a crazy crazy week this has been! I've been so busy making Valentine's Day goodies, treats for my club's annual dinner, more calendars, not to mention my regular job! Anyway, just wanted to share some treats I made for the girls at Island Scrapbooking. Didn't have a whole lot of time, so I just just used my Sizzix bag die for the goodie bags.
I had gotten a book of K&Co. paper and MS Paper all in Valentine's Day themes that I wanted to use. Plus Island Scrapbooking got in a whole bunch of new Penny Black rubber stamps featuring my favorite little Penny Black Girl named Mimi (and her friends). She's so cute yah?
I had Debi in mind for this one.. her favorite images are little critters.. This cutie is by Dandelion Designs.

Hope you all have a great Valentine's Day and a great week! DH and I decided to buy each other a new coffee pot since our's was really old.
I'm loving my new Dandelion Designs cling stamps! Here's the other set I bought. After awhile of looking through my papers, I finally decided not to go with any patterned paper. These guys are too cute to have a patterned paper distract from them, so decided to make my own scene. Started with just some plain white cardstock and used my Tumbled Glass Distress ink on the sides to make it look like the sky.
Then I punched out grass using my MS punch (my favorite!) and then just popped up the monkey and elephant. Added Island Scrapbooking mini sakura flowers and topped it off with the matching sentiment that came in the set. These stamps remind me of Akemi and Baby Z (Akemi's cousin). They sure love to play bubbles!

Just had to share this habuts face!!! Isn't it so funny??? Akemi was excited to go on our adventure up to Hale Pohaku (just before Mauna Kea). We decided to go one night to see how cold it was and to test out my warm clothing to see if I needed to buy anything for our upcoming Japan trip. Akemi was happy to go on another adventure and wanted to make sure to document it for her adventure book. Needless to say I was FREEZING my butt off... I was OK as long as I was not in the windy area... then my knees started shaking uncontrollaby. DH was laughing at me because the thermometer we took only read up to 52 degrees at the coldest and we think Japan will be in the HIGHs of 50 and Lows of 30. Yikes!?
Akemi complained about the cold and then we told her we'd get her a hot chocolate... that's when her adventure became the WORST EVER! Apparently, after I bought the hot cocoa mix for Akemi, DH took her outside to make it since the hot water was outside (not sure why). He apparently forgot to tell her just how hot the water was and she burned her tongue. That's why she's sticking her tongue out in the photo. Oh, by the way, the lighting in there was red and I think they don't want you to use your flash, so this is the best I could do. They take the lighting very seriously since it may distract the scientists. Whatever.
Back to the story- So to document her worst adventure ever, I took a couple of photos. DH tried to distract her by showing her the stars through the telescopes that were set up, but she was already in a bad mood. Aunty Les was happy to hear that the Kalapana adventure she took us on (where we got rained on) was no longer Akemi's worst adventure ever!
