Island Scrapbooking Anniversary Sale Make 'n Take

Hi All! I'm very excited to show you my make 'n take project for the Island Scrapbooking Anniversary sale happening next week Saturday 10/16. I've been wanting to do this project as a class, but just couldn't figure out how to package the strawberries. After going back and forth on what kind of make 'n take to do for the sale day, I finally remembered about this strawberry box template that I had. I also remembered how to make this simple box but ended up sizing it down to fit the strawberries better. OK- so here's the scoop... if you want to make this strawberry box and basket, make sure you stop by Island Scrapbooking on Saturday 10/16 in the morning. I only cut 20 kits, so it will be first come, first served. Debi will be doing another make 'n take in the afternoon, so if you miss mine, you might be able to catch her's. Oh yah- and if possible, please bring your own scissors if you have them. This will move things along much quicker than if you have to share! In addition to the free make 'n takes, there will be prize drawings, games, and in-store specials on sale day only. Great Gifts Class Desk Calendar

I finally made a sample of the desk calendar that we will be making in an upcoming class at Island Scrapbooking. These easy to make desk calendars make really nice gifts for anyone! I had a hard time figuring out what image to use since my students often tell me that they don't like a lot of coloring. I settled on this cute Asian doll stamp by Hero Arts since you don't really have to color in her hair. We will also be making a checkbook or pocket calendar cover and a recipe card bind-it-all project. Need to go work on that sample now! Hope you have a great weekend! Supplies:

August Tag Swap

Lookie what I got in the mail this week! My August Tag Swap partner was Jodie of Inked Inspirations. I met Jodie at the Islander Girls Social on Oahu. She is the sweetest gal you'll meet! Frightful and Delightful

Happy Friday! Finally had a chance to ink up Halloween Hansel! Vampires are not my favorite, but I think he's pretty slick in his costume. Decided to use this spiderweb DP but didn't want it to cover the entire background, so I slanted it over the red cardstock so it would stand out a bit. I also wanted to try out my new MS gate punch and punched it out from some silver cardstock and made Hansel sitting on the fence. I guess he's waiting for his next victim? Because there was so much empty space, I decided to use a bigger sized sentiment in back of Hansel. Found this Frightful and Delightful sentiment by Hero Arts that was the perfect size and saying. I stamped it on the labels die but the larger die I would normally mount it on was too big for the card. Instead, I used my distress ink on the edges. Since there were some white spaces on the sentiment, I added in these small creatures (spider/bats) also by Hero Arts. Here's a closer look at Hansel... Supplies:

You're The Pick Of The Patch!

I made this card with every intention of entering the last ATC challenge using the colors orange, green and burgundy. I didn't finish in time, but thought I'd share it with you anyway. Used this new stamp by CC's called Fall Hansel. He's a Swiss Pixie, but I guess you can't see his wings. The great thing about CC's is that they also have a lot of sentiment sets by AmyR that coordinate well with their images. This sentiment is from their Autumn Sentiments set and right now all of the AmyR sentiment sets are on coupon for 30% off at Island Scrapbooking for IS members. As you can see... my morning sunlight was very dark yesterday. Guess fall is really here- no sun in sight! Supplies:

Another Acetate Card

Decided to re-do the card for the Acetate Card Class coming up at Island Scrapbooking. Since I had already done one red card, I thought it would be better to change the color scheme and scale down the card size. So this is what I came up with. I love how the distress inks blend so well together, so I used two different colors and blended them with my fingers. Janis- the link for the instructions to the embossing on acetate can be found here... What she doesn't tell you is that you probably need to use a thicker acetate. I've tried it on thin acetate and mine melted! Good luck! Supplies:

Busy Weekend

Happy Monday! I'm still recovering from a long weekend (but feels like a very short one). We were super busy this weekend, but it was a lot of fun visiting family and friends.. My weekend started on Friday since we had furlough... I had to make a quick wedding card for my cousin who's getting married. Since I couldn't attend the ceremony, I had to make it this week to give to my mom who was planning on going. I guess the reason why I procrastinated so long was because I haven't made a wedding card in such a long time. I think I'm out of practice! I guess we are at the point in our lives where most of our friends are married, so weddings have slowed down. Anyway, I remembered a Dandelion image that I had and decided to use that as my focal point. Tracy reminded me of some cool striped satin paper at Island Scrapbooking that looks great on wedding cards, so I picked some up on Friday and got to work. Since I was giving $$, I decided to make a pocket to hold the gift. Here's a close up of the front of the card... And the reason for the rush rush on making the card is because we were headed to Honolulu for a very special event! Can you guess what we did by looking at the next picture?? OK- so that wasn't the best photo, but they wouldn't let us take pictures. Did you guess? We took Akemi to see Beauty and the Beast! I think I wanted to go more than she did! It was really good- better than I expected. Akemi really got into it- she was laughing and even cried (talking uncontrollably) during the performance. She said it was because Belle left the Beast. When we started talking about it again she said... "Stop talking about it or I'll start crying again!!". In addition to other numerous errands, we also stopped by to see our friend's new baby. Sigh... hard to believe Akemi used to be that small! Here's Akemi, Uncle Dayne and baby.. And here's the proud papa! Darn- forgot to take a photo of the new Mama! Next time. More Sympathy Cards

I hate making sympathy cards, but I've had to make a handful over the last month. It really sucks to have to make these types of cards, so I don't normally post them. Just wanted to share my favorite stamp which makes making sympathy cards quick, easy and painless. The sentiment is by Paper Inspirations and is a great focal point for the card. I distressed both cards using my Ranger Distress Inks and then just accented the cards using my fern stamps. Don't know if you can tell, but images were stamped and embossed with gold embossing powder then distressed. Just stamped the sentiment directly over the embossed image and it seemed to work fine. Paper Inspirations makes all different types of sentiments using this layout. I love them all since it makes making a card fast and easy.

Tiddlyinks Challenge #23- Diamond Glaze/Crackle

This is my second post for today- please scroll down for my other post. When I first saw this image by Tiddlyinks called "Donna" (named after Donna Mikasa), I knew I had to get it. She's so cute! And I love her little frog friend with matching umbrella. Thanks Donna for requesting this image! Now we can all enjoy using it too. This week's Tiddlyinks Challenge is to use diamond glaze or Crackle on your project. Don't know if you can tell, but I used glaze on Donna's umbrella, raincoat and rubber boots. I guess glaze doesn't photograph well, so its hard to see on my photo. I also tried out this cool technique I found on Color Me Copic. It teaches you how to make a grassy background for your image. This was really fun and gave my card some life. I then added some distress ink for the sky using my blender and just dabbing the ink on. And for the inside of my card, I used this cute kids sentiment. I thought it matched the image perfectly! Supplies:

Last of the Acetate Card Class Samples

I know, junk photo- the reflection totally takes away from the card. I used the same technique that I've used in other diamond glaze/acetate cards but this time used gold tissue. I love how dramatic it looks! Thanks Aunty for the advice! Guess I was going for an asain look to this card, so naturally I chose red to go with the gold. Finally picked up this Hero Arts cling stamp I've been wanting since I got into distressing. I think it nicely shows off the technique. Here's a close up of the butterfly. Well, that was the last of the cards for my upcoming class. Who knows if I'll ever work with acetate again after this class! Wish me luck! Supplies:
