2nd Attempt

As you can see, I can't get enough of that masking technique.  I tried using Distress inks this time, but had a harder time.  Not sure if its cause its water based? Whatever it is, I had a harder time, but managed to come up with this card.  The large butterfly is Penny Black and the rest of the stamps are by Hero Arts.  I guess I gotta keep practicing!

CASE'ing Heather

While blogging, I stumbled upon a blog called Bits and Pieces by Heather Telford.  I immediately fell in love with her style and spent days studying her work.  (Yes, I study).  She used a masking technique using post its to create these one layer cards using sponging.

I thought this would be a great technique for my upcoming class, so I bought me some post its to test it out.  It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be!  I'm really loving this technique and need to practice!

The large butterfly is a Penny Black stamp (can you tell its my new favorite!), and the rest of the stamps are Hero Arts.  The inks used are Momento.. never even thought of using Momento inks in this way before.  Thank you Heather for the great inspiration!  Be sure to check out her other cards here...

Let Your Dreams Soar and Take Flight

I love that sentiment... Its from one of my new Penny Black sets.  It works so perfectly with butterflies, which are my new passion.  Yes, I'm behind the times, but I really like them right now!  

So I was playing around with my Distress Inks,  trying to figure out what I was gonna teach in my up coming class.  I decided to use a technique that I saw Jennifer McGuire teach on the Two Peas YouTube channel, where she stamped with water on Distress Inks.  Love the way it looks.  I used this technique on the background stamp (also Penny Black) and then stamped the butterfly using gold paint (dabbers) again.   I finally used my new Distress Ink pads.  The pink is from the new summer seasonal distress inks called Picked Raspberry.  OMG!  I Love Love Love it!  Then I used shaded lilac for the purple.  Its like a periwinkle purple- totally my style.  Loving these new Distress colors!

With Deepest Sympathy

I've mentioned it before, but I really hate making sympathy cards.   I normally stamp most of the card and leave the sentiment for last, but since I needed a sympathy card, I added in the kanji stamp for it.  I think that stamp is by Stampettes or Mari & Me (sorry I can't remember).  The butterfly and fern stamps are by Penny Black and are my new favorites!  Decided to go with a distress background and then stamp the butterfly using gold paint.  Stamping with the Ranger paint dabbers are awesome!  It stamps really nice and because the applicator is right on the bottle, it is not so messy.  Makes me want to get more!

Anyway, this card is on it's way to Italy.  RIP Piero... Glad we go to meet you when we visited.  You will be missed!

More Mimi...

I think this is the last of my Valentine's Day cards. I really wanted to use the new My Mind's Eye paper that came in at Island Scrapbooking. I love that they have a lot of small prints- perfect for cardmakers! Used my new Penny black stamp again of Mimi holding a heart. Isn't she cute?

Happy Valentine's Day!

Wowee! What a crazy crazy week this has been! I've been so busy making Valentine's Day goodies, treats for my club's annual dinner, more calendars, not to mention my regular job! Anyway, just wanted to share some treats I made for the girls at Island Scrapbooking. Didn't have a whole lot of time, so I just just used my Sizzix bag die for the goodie bags. I had gotten a book of K&Co. paper and MS Paper all in Valentine's Day themes that I wanted to use. Plus Island Scrapbooking got in a whole bunch of new Penny Black rubber stamps featuring my favorite little Penny Black Girl named Mimi (and her friends). She's so cute yah? I had Debi in mind for this one.. her favorite images are little critters.. This cutie is by Dandelion Designs. More Penny Black Mimi stamps... For Michele's one, I was sure to use some paper she just got in the store by Bo Bunny. Hope you all have a great Valentine's Day and a great week! DH and I decided to buy each other a new coffee pot since our's was really old.
