Happy Belated Belated Birthday Liane!

Talk about a really really really late birthday card! I'm ashamed to tell you when my friend Liane's birthday really was.. so I won't! Anyway, since I'm sooooo late, I thought I should make this an extra special birthday card, so I "bear"ed down and made a double shaker. Used this cute bear cupcake image from TSRD and added the candle since it was a birthday card. The sentiment is by Hero Arts- I thought it matched really well since the shaker is like the sprinkles!

Here's another shot to show you the shaker part- microbeads in the front and dew drops in the back. Hope she liked it! Sorry it was so late Liane!

Two Scoops Rice- Inspiration Challenge

Have you ever been inspired by something? Well Maylee was this month's Challenge host for Two Scoops Rice and she chose this pillow from Crate and Barrel as our source of inspiration. We had to come up with a card/project that was inspired by this pillow. I found this exremely challenging since the colors are so dark, and I'm used to working with lighter colors. I know, you are thinking... that's why they call it a challenge! Right??

So here's the first card I came up with. Luckily, I found some DP that matched the look of this pillow! Its by My Little Shoebox and I loved it when I first saw it, but couldn't seem to figure out how to use it, so it just stayed in my drawer, until now.

Since the DP had flowers on it, I initially thought of using this cute bee stamp by TSR. Isn't it cute? Somehow I didn't do the bee justice though. I think it might be a junk layout that I used. Ok- so I knew I could a little better, so I decided to ink up one of my favorite fairies. This set comes with 3 fairies all holding different flowers (same pose). To add more drama, I cut black cardstock using my nesties and layered it on some bright yellow DP. I like how this one came out better. What do you think?

Two Scoops Rice Challenge- Altered Item

Hi Everyone!

Back with another Two Scoops Rice Challenge! This time Stephanie is our hostess and the challenge is to use an TSR image on an altered item! I chose to decorate one of the mailboxes I got from Oriental Trading Company. Just covered the mailbox with some DP from SU and chose to use one of the cute fairies from the Garden Fairies set. Since the DP was floral, I thought the fairies would match perfectly.

I also decorated the cover... Decided to use a variety of flowers to cover the front.

Here's the other side of the mailbox... Since this was a gift for Valentine's Day, I added the heart on the flag.

Two Scoops Rice Sketch Challenge

Hello! Back today with other challenge from Two Scoops Rice... this month's challenge is a sketch challenge! Joni, our hostess for this challenge, came up with this great sketch! This was a great one for me since most of my cards look the same all the time... time for me to expand my horizons. hee hee. Check out the Two Scoops Rice blog for more info on the challenge.. So, here's what I came up with based on the sketch... I decided to use the Mushi Fairy stamp for my card... I think this is one of Two Scoops Rice cutest designs. I guess I just like the fairies! Even Polar Bears Need A Little Cocoa

I decided to try making the bear from the Two Scoops Rice Hot Cocoa Set into a polar bear. Even though he's used to cold environments, he needs a little cocoa too.. right? Because he looked so cool and frosty, I decided to use my new Martha Stewart Snowflake corner punch around him. My friend Debi taught a class using this technique- you can use any corner punch and it will work!

To keep it simple, I used regular cardstock and ran it through my snowflake embossing folder for texture. I didn't want the background to overpower the image.

Here's a close up of the bear. I must say that choosing to do a polar bear was a lot less coloring!

Two Scoops Rice Challenge- Recipe Card

Hi Everyone! Two Scoops Rice Designs will be hosting challenges on their blog starting today! Yay! That means you have chances to win TSR Stamps! Our first challenge is hosted by Enjoli.. she came up with a Recipe Card... For all you newbies out there to challenges, its not an actual recipe card for putting recipes on. You may think that's a silly statement, but that's what I thought!!!! I had to ask Enjoli to make sure, and I'm pretty sure she must have been rolling on the floor laughing at my question! OK back to the challenge... Here's the "recipe":

• 1 Two Scoops Rice Image- if you don't own any TSR stamps, there are free digis on their blog that you can use to enter!
• 2 solid cardstocks
• 1 white cardstock
• 1 printed paper
• 1 piece of ribbon
• 1 sprinkles of bling

Other info you need to know:

• Entries must use a TSR design- go get your free digi if you don't have any TSR stamps.
• You must follow the recipe in order to qualify for the prize.
• Cards do not have to be Christmas themed.
• Winner of the Challenge will receive a Muffles the Snowman Cone and Juggling Bunny Stamps!

I decided to use the bear from the Hot Chocolate Set. This set is so cute! I've used it a lot making Gift Card Holders for coffee lovers. Since he was holding a mug, I decided to use a mug template I found (sorry I don't know where I got it from!) and shrank it down to fit onto my card. To add some depth to the mug, I used my Copic markers to add some shadowing on the sides of the mug.

The challenge for me was figuring out where to put the ribbon and bling. I decided to make "steam" coming from the cocoa cup using my cuttlebug swirls embossing folder and using stickles to add the bling. The ribbon didn't really fit anywhere on my project, so I added it to the handle of the mug. Here's a close up of the cocoa bear.

Snow Angel

Actually, her name is Hannah Angel and she is so darling. I think she is so sweet and reminds me of my angel, Akemi. Since Akemi loves pink, I decided to dress Hannah in pink too!

Used my snowflakes Cuttlebug embossing folder to give the card some subtle texture. I just love the look of embossing on the Bazzil Bling papers. It comes out really nice and because they are pearly, its really pretty.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Everyone!

Thought I'd better post these Thanksgiving cards I made since its almost here! Yikes!! I can't believe its Thanksgiving already... Since I've been busy, I decided to make some simple cards using some of my favorite Thanksgiving images.

All of these images are digi's, so all I had to do was print them on my computer! This first image is by Two Scoops Rice. Check out their blog here. Renae is giving away free digis- in b&w and pre-colored! I chose the pre-colored one since I didn' t have time to color it myself. I was able to whip this card up in 5 minutes. This next digi is by Pink Cat Studio. Betty has been baking pie for Thanksgiving Dinner. I think she's so sweet! This sentiment and a whole bunch more are free on the Pink Cat digital website... Lastly, I finally got around to using the new CC's Thanksgiving digis. I think these are cute since they go together! Also gave me a chance to use this cute Bo Bunny paper. Christmas Cupcakes

Who doesn't want cupcakes at Christmas? Especially when they look as cute as these! These three cupcake stamps are new from Two Scoops Rice. I think my favorite is Santa.. no wait the reindeer... wait, its frosty... I don't know! I like them all! I guess that's why I put them all on one card. These stamps are good sized, so I had to use a 5x7 card instead of my normal A2 size.

For some reason, I just love how this Doodlebug paper matches with the Two Scoops Rice stamps. I guess they have the same cutsie feel to them, which is what I live for.

Well, I'm off to Honolulu this weekend! Yahoo! Feels like forever since I've been home! Can't wait to do some Christmas shopping and sneak in some craft shopping as well. Maybe I'll see you there?

Frosty the Ice Cream Cone

Hope your Monday is better than mine... I've been sick today- the kind no one wants to get. Anyway, to cheer myself up, I thought I'd post this card I made using a Two Scoops Rice image. I think this snowman ice cream cone is the cutest! I made this card over the weekend when I was feeling better.

Here's a close up.. I used the Sizzix embossing folder because it reminded me of an ice cream cone pattern.

For dimension, I decided to use these mini pom poms that were in Christmas colors. So cute yah?

Oh My Goodness!!!

Well, its official... I'm another year older. Normally, my b-days are celebrated intimately with my family, but somehow this year the girls at Island Scrapbooking found out when my b-day was (how the heck did they figure it out?) and threw a surprise party for me. They are so cute- we had fun hanging out after Craft Night. Here's all the cute cards I got from the girls... The card featured above was by (drum roll please....) Michele! I hear Tracy contributed to the card too. Thanks girls! I feel so special having my name custom made! The next card was made by Donna.... I think she wanted to make me a Two Scoops Rice card since I'm now on the DT. Cute yah? She made popcorn and mochi crunch for me! This last card was from Debi... She knows how much I love Hello Kitty and made this cute card... Just love how she made the party hat for her! See this HK charm? Debi said she saw it a long time ago and bought it for me for my b-day. So sweet yah? I'm not using it- I love it on the card! I promise to take it out and look at it often. Thanks Debi! Woo Hoo!

Just wanted to share some special news with everyone! I recently found out that I was selected to be on the Two Scoops Rice Design Team from now through spring! Thank you Renae! I just love these cute stamps- they are totally my style... And I'm soooo happy that Enjoli of Stampin Under the Sun blog is on the DT with me! Congrats Enjoli! I'm a big fan of her creations and consider it an honor to be in the same DT as her. I'm so excited to start creating and can't wait to find out more!

Two Scoops Rice Make 'N Take

Happy Sunday Everyone! I am headed to Ben Franklin today to take my daughter and her BFF to their Halloween make 'n takes. I'm sure it will be fun for both of them- and me too.

I forgot to post this earlier... this is the make 'n take that I did last week at Island Scrapbooking's Anniversary. We didn't know how many people would come and do the make 'n take, so I only cut about 20 kits. When the doors opened, I had so many customers people peeked in and came back later because it was full. Sorry ladies! Next time we'll plan for more people to join in... maybe we need have a bigger table too!

So I decided to use the Sizzix XL Scallop Bag die. It was funny to hear most of the customers say that they actually had that die at home but never made it yet! Hopefully this will inspire them to use it more. I also decided to use a stamp from one of the Two Scoops Rice sets since they were new to the store. They were so popular that the sets sold out immediately! Who can resist them? I couldn't... they are so cute!

Snowflake Fairy

Just wanted to use my new Fleur De Lis Spellbinders die that I've wanted forever and finally got last week! I've seen so many beautiful creations using this die, that I just had to have it.

I'm actually using it in one of my classes this month and had a couple of extras cut, so I decided to make a card using them. I like the look of doubling them up so that it looks like a snowflake. The ice skating fairy from Two Scoops Rice was added to the center as the focal point.

I didn't want to have a busy background that would take away from the snowflake, so I decided to just mat it and add a little texture using my Sizzix embossing folder. I was determined to figure out how to get the texture on the entire piece of cardstock since my cardstock was larger than an A2 size. I FINALLY figured it out! Yipee! Yay, I finally solved the mystery. If you want to know how its done, leave me a comment. I'm thinking I'm the last person on the planet to figure out how to do this, so in case I'm not and you want to know how I did it, let me know and I'll post the instructions.

So, I've totally never done a challenge before, but thought I'd enter for the hell of it since it turns out my card meets all of the criteria! Yay!
