Another Buddy Valentine

Can't seem to get enough of this cute Fhiona and her Buddy stamp by Your Next Stamp! Decided to keep it simple again by not using any DP. Since the goal here was to use the heart deco strip (which I love!), I didn't want to use any DP that would make it look too busy or take the focus away from the hearts. To add a little bling, I used some crystals to accent the hearts.

M&M Treat Holder

If you haven't visited the ISS blog, you should go check it out. Every Monday, they have some kind of tutorial called Method Monday. I CASED this project from there.
Used the Wild Sprout Dhalia since I haven't used her in while. I thought her funky clothes matched this DP I had already choosen. Since the project is very slim, she barely fit !
As I was making this project, I thought that the holder would be a bit tight to hold M&Ms but in their photo, it fit, so I followed the instructions. When I got my bag of M&Ms and tried to put it in... I felt like it wasn't going to fit, but it sure fooled me! Lookie lookie! Now the challenge will be keeping it in there when I take it to Island Scrapbooking!
I suppose you could fit any other slim type of candy bar in the pocket.. or maybe even those slim notebooks (jr. legal cut in half)? Not sure though since I haven't tried it yet.

Simple Noteholder

This is a Simple Noteholder that I CASED from Teri... You can find the tutorial here.. She named it appropriately, it is very simple! Unfortunately, I don't have an oval punch (go figure?!), so I used my oval nesties to make the handle. I think I chose one that was too big though.
Here's the side view. I believe Teri made it to hold notecards (3x3), but you can put in other stuff too like post its or even candy (Tracy pointed out that you can fit a Kit Kat bar in there).
I think the easiest part is that you can just use DP and its done! You can add more embellishments or stamped images, but I thought it looked nice as it was.
Supplies:
DP- Bo Bunny
Ribbon

Cris Cross Bree

Not sure where I saw this idea, but I love using Bree to deliver Valentine's! It must've been on the Club Anya and Friends blog or Splendid Stamping with the Greeting Farm blog. They are a great source of inspiration!
Since this Cris Cross card reminds me of an envelope, I decided to use it with Bree. Looks like she's delivering the Valentine's yah?
And did you notice??? I FINALLY got my MS Loopy border punch (and corner punch too)!!! Whoopie! I thought I missed the boat on that one since wherever I looked they were sold out and didn't expect a shipment in. Now I see that everywhere is getting their shipments in... I don't care, it was totally worth it!

Nutty Nutshell's- Recipe Challenge

Hi Everyone!
It's time for another Nutty Nutshell's Challenge! I was stoked to be asked to stay on for another month as a Guest Designer for Nutshells. Their stuff is really cute!
Anyway, this week's challenge is a Recipe Challenge. All you need to do to play along is to make a card using at least 3 layers, ribbon and glitter! I think most of my projects have those elements already, so this wasn't such a hard challenge for me!
To give her some bling... I stickled her hair ribbon and clothes. I like the effect of embossing the circle behind her. I've seen that on other people's projects and that subtle effect always catches my eye.
OK- time for you to play along with us.. check out the Nutshell's Challenge blog here for more details...

Box Turned Bag

I'm always looking for new ways of using my Sizzix dies. This is one of my favorite boxes that was released last year. The size is pretty big and can hold quite a bit of goodies. Decided to use my nesties and cut a labels #9 out of the cover and cover w/acetate. Love this Megan stamp, so I decided to use her on the box.
Here's the fun part, all I did was punch holes on one side and inserted ribbon for the handle! Yay, the box is now a bag!

TGF Digi Relay- Day 3

Had to rush doing this one- sorry not much to this card, but I am determined to get all those digis! Isn't Toby Cub cute? I think its cool they are offering such a nice array of digis! Thanks TGF! Supplies: Toby Cub- TGF Ribbon DP- Doodlebug Cardstock- Bazzil

Just Say Yo! (Gabba Gabba)

So if you are the parent of a toddler, or in my case, a Kindergartener, you probably have heard of the show called Yo Gabba Gabba. If you haven't, consider yourself lucky as it is the weirdest kids show I've seen. I swear they are all on acid if you ask me! What ever happened to good old Sesame Street? Anyway, my daughter and nephew seem to love it a lot, so I decided to use the characters in Yo Gabba Gabba for my nephew's birthday card.
I made a pop up card using the whole Yo Gabba Gabba crew.... To personalize the card, I stuck on my nephew's face to DJ Lance Rock's body! It cracks me up to see Zade with that muff of a hat on!
Here's a close up of my nephew's face. It makes me laugh!
Hope he liked the card as much as I liked making it for him!! Happy Birthday Zade- sorry we missed your party!

My Buddy Valentine

Fhiona and her Buddy (now named Fhinn) are so cute together! Perfect for Valentine's day, don'tcha think? This card was a challenge for me.. not sure why but I struggled to complete it. It took me one night to finish it up, this includes taking breaks inbetween because I had crafter's block. I think the MS heart border punch is what stumped me. Once I punched that out, I had a hard time figuring out what to do with the rest of the card.
Got these flowers from a Prima flower mix- perfect match!

TGF Digi Relay- Day 2

Hello, Hello, Hello! Are you still playing along with TGF for the free digi's??? So far I've surprised myself by keeping up.. I must say that this is very challenging for me, but I think it will be worth it to get all those freebies!
OK- so this is WS Charlotte that was the freebie for today. I must admit that this was my first try at dark skin but I think I found the right color combo! She came out much better than I expected. My husband and I agreed that she looked like she was ready to go and boogie, so I dressed her in some groovy clothes and made her a custom disco ball. I know you can't really tell from the photos, but I hand cut mirrored silver cardstock and pieced it back together to make the disco ball. Tried to get a shot where you can see that its the mirrored cardstock, but I think its still hard to tell.
Hope you can play along too!

My First Zutter Project

I'll admit, I've been really bad about buying some stuff and not using them... For example, I bought the Zutter tool and did not use it for over a year (or at least close to it). I know, what a waste yah? Wish I tried it earlier because it was pretty darn easy to use! Kelli totally inspired me when she made a 4x4 album in less than an hour. After watching her use the machine, I felt more comfortable... it didn't look that difficult to use, so I vowed that one of my first craft projects of the new year would be to use my Zutter.
What was I thinking? I should have unpacked this baby a long time ago. Oh well, live and learn right?
I wanted to use my favorite Love Bandit paper again. For some reason, I like how the Miss Anya looks with this paper, so I decided to use her on this project. Since it was my first Zutter project, I kept it very simple. Didn't know how many layers of cardstock and chipboard it could cut through, so I didn't want to chance it- bumbye I get discouraged and not use it! :)
Hmmmm, now I think I need to get the Dream Cuts Machine!!!

Playing Along

I'm finally feeling better and hit the blogs today, only to find that The Greeting Farm is hosting a digi relay where you can get free digis if you play along! I'm all about getting free stuff nowadays, so here's what I came up with... had to use MerIan as he was the free digi for today. Isn't he the perfect match to Mermaid Anya? I thought so, and colored them the same... they are a perfect match! Still in the mood for Valentine's day too, so thought I'd make it into a Valentine's day card. Hopefully I'll make the deadline so I can get the next digi! Supplies: Mer Ian & Mermaid Anya- TGF Loopy border punch- MS Crafts DP- MS Crafts Heart die- Spellbinders Cardstock- Bazzil

Cris Cross Flutter Anya

I wanted to try to make samples using card templates that I've never used before. I saw this tutorial on Split Coast Stampers and wanted to try it out. It was so easy to follow! I was bummed because I ran out of my brown satin ribbon, so I changed it up a bit and just used cardstock instead for the belly band. Since I haven't used Flutter Anya in awhile, thought I'd use her again for this card. I still think she's a cutie. Wish I had that tab punch that I could've used for the top of the card!

Got Milk?

Don't these cookies look yummy? I was actually supposed to just make a tag sample for the store, but got side tracked and a little inspired by this girl scout Anya from the Respect set. The set also comes with a boy scout. Since the only thing I know about girl scouts are their yummy cookies, I decided to do a tribute to the girl scout and her cookie by making my own cookies! These cookies were made entirely out of punches. If you are wondering how I made the chocolate chips, they are small hearts punched and then I just cut it to look more like a chocolate chip.
When is girl scout cookie season anyway? Its making me hungry for cookies and milk!

You must excuse me since I'm still sick and can't think clearly... For those of you on the YNS Blog Hop, here's a bit of clarification... On my original post, I stated you should go to the YNS Challenge blog to enter for the Grand Prize Giveaway... That was WRONG! Please go to Simonne's blog where you will see a Mr. Linky. Add your name and you're done! You can enter again if you posted something on your blog about your favorite Vacation Destination or Rock Band. See Simonne's blog for more details on how to enter. AND.... I also neglected to include that YNS is having a huge sale! You can selected stamps for 25-55% off! What a great deal! Head on over now for best selection as quantities are limited. If you haven't done so already, please check out the YNS blog hop starting at Karen's blog! You won't be sorry- the DT has come up with some really cute samples to share with you. Hope I got it right this time! OK- I'm going back to bed now... please click here for my YNS Blog Hop post!

Cheers!

I love this Nutcrafter's Digi image. If you make a purchase of 25 (sorry currency is in pounds) or more, you will recieve this free Celebration digi! Isn't she cute? All ready to ring in the New Year! Since she looked like she was all dressed up, I decided to go with a basic black dress for her. Kept to the black and white (silver) theme by using some old Bo Bunny scraps (yay! using up my scraps now that I have a filing system!). Added the new double loop MS punch- which I'm totally loving. To throw in some color, I decided to use some red prima flowers. Oh yah, and can't forget the "bubbles". Decided that since it was a New Year's card and she was in some bubbly, went with the crystals for bubbles.

YNS New Releases and Blog Hop!

Aloha Everyone! Mahalo nui loa (thank you) for joining me in the YNS New Release Blog Hop! This is very exciting for me as I have not participated in any blog hop before! You are probably coming from Lana's blog, but in case you are not starting from the beginning, you should probably go check out Karen's blog first! I was thrilled to find out that 1) I was selected to be a Guest Starlet for YNS, AND 2) YNS came up with a Hawaiian Fhiona and Fhinn (Aloha Fhiona and Surfer Fhinn to be exact). Since I'm from Hawaii, these are definitely one of my favorite designs! I really wanted to make a card using both Aloha Fhiona and Surfer Fhinn, so I decided to try my first Diorama card. This was pretty fun to make and very simple. The hardest part was figuring out where to put everything- not the actual construction of the card... Here's what I came up with... See! Aloha Fhiona is doing the hula while Surfer Fhinn is riding the waves! This project was so fun to put together! I just love how the card gives you so much dimension with the different layers. Here's a close up.... For my next card, I decided to do a traditional card using Aloha Fhiona. It was so awesome to be able to use some of the Hawaiian themed scrapbooking products found locally for this project! Do you like the little gecko? He's one of my favorites! Here's a closer look at Aloha Fhiona... So since I live in Hawaii, many of you might assume that my favorite place to vacation is Hawaii... well, maybe its because I live here and can see it every day, I actually enjoy traveling to non-tropical places. Weird yah? I know... I totally take Hawaii for granted, but whenever I return from a trip, I always appreciate what I have a lot more! So, now that you know that Hawaii is not my favorite vacation destination, you are probably wondering what is? I actually have 2 right now. I LOVE DISNEYLAND! Always have, always will. Now that I have a daughter, this is our favorite destination.. can't wait for my next trip to the Magic Kingdom! My next favorite- only because I can't afford to go again anytime soon, is Italy! My sister lives there and we went for her wedding. It was so beautiful! I can't wait to go and visit there again. Now, if I had a chance to go anywhere in the world, I'd have to go with Japan... I'd be first in line at Tokyo Disneyland! I would also need to check out Puroland (Hello Kitty theme park). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find my Italy pictures in time for this post, so I leave you with my favorite Disneyland picture of Akemi... Thank you so much for stopping by on this blog hop! Your next destination is Angela's blog... so hop on over now to see what she has for you! Don't forget... There are prizes to be won on this blog hop! Here's the prize info:
  • Grand Prize: The entire new release (4 stamp sets) will go to one lucky winner!
  • How to enter: Go to the YNS Challenges blog and add your name to Mr. Linky.
  • If you publish a post on your blog about the blog hop and include a picture and blurb about your favorite vacation destination or rock band, you will be eligible for a 2nd entry into the grand prize!
  • Blog Hop will run from 1/21/10 to 1/25/10.

Isn't that awesome! Hope you had fun visiting my blog... don't forget to check out the other YNS Starlet's blogs for other cool creations!

Dandelion Congratulations Cards

Michele asked me to make some Dandelion Designs samples for the store using the baby and wedding stamps. I was happy to make samples using these since Dandelion is one of my favorite companies.
I just love this married couple stamp but never got a chance to use it since we hardly go to weddings nowdays. I am never sure how to color wedding images since normally the bride and groom are in black and white. Instead of leaving her dress plain white, I decided to jazz it up a bit. At first, I thought of using Stickles, but chose not to do it... After all, she's getting married, not going to a club! Instead, I found some white pearly Smooch, and used it to color in her dress. You can't really tell from the photos, but her dress is a nice pearly white. I decided to use the Stickles for her veil instead. To accent her headpiece, I added a tiny pearl. To give the card some color, I added pink to the roses and a pink ribbon and finished off the card by using my corner punch on the black cardstock. I like the look it gave to the card.
My next project was to tackle the family with the baby stamp. I wish these came out when Akemi was born- I would have used it for sure! Anyway, had to make one boy and one girl card.. here's the boy version (please remember that I don't have a boy, so making boy cards are foreign to me... they always come out a little girlie!).
Here's the girl version...
Aaawwww! Aren't these stamps so cute! There are also a boy and girl stamp that coordinate with this stamp so you can stamp your whole family!

Miss Anya Valentine Treat Bag

Here's the matching treat bag to that Miss Anya Valentine card I posted earlier. I decided to keep this one simple and not use any DP. Boy was that hard! This project was pretty easy to put together since the bag was a Sizzix XL die. This bag is so versatile that you can use it for just about anything.. I think its the perfect size to give away Valentine's Day treats. Maybe I'll use this bag for my daughter's class.

Miss Anya Valentine's

Thought I'd help Michele out a bit by making her more new samples. This Miss Anya is from the Dressy Miss Anya set. Its amazing how if you just change the colors you use, you instantly have an image ready for whatever season you are in! I decided to go with the red dress and accessories for Valentine's Day. The DP is part of my new favorite line- Love Bandit by Bo Bunny. I just fell in love with these papers and can't stop using them. Here's a close up of Miss Anya.
