Just wanted to post these Birthday cards/gift card holders I made recently. This first gift card holder was made for my co-worker. I just love making the gift card holders- they are so fast and easy! The cupcake cutie Fhiona set was a perfect match to the Doodlebug Designs cupcake paper.

Countdown To Christmas

Now that Thanksgiving is over, the countdown to Chirstmas begins! Akemi is a bit older now, so she is more aware of the holidays. Since we enjoy crafting together, I thought making an advent calendar together would be a great project! I found the project at Splitcoast Stampers and thought this was easy enough to do..
I just love the Christmas Doodlebug Designs paper that came out this year, and knew I wanted to incorporate it into our project. I used the stripes, poka dots and candy paper as the backgrounds for each tin. I found a set of 12 circle tins at Ben Franklin, so two sets did the trick. The board I used is actually a canvas that I just adhered the squares to. Here's a side view of the board.. Here you can see tha twe actually covered each tin w/a strip of DP.
The dates were cut using the Sizzix Endless Love alphabet set. The size of the numbers were the perfect for the size for the tin.
Since the DP had gingerbread men on it, I thought my new Sizzix Gingerbread Man die would go perfectly. He's a little big, so he hangs off the edge. To give him the decorated feel, I used Dew Drops on his eyes and used black fabric paint for his eyes, liquid pearls for his smile and Candy Dots for his buttons. I ended up having to adhere the "to" to his tummy since there wasn't enough room.
Here's a close up of the titling... "Countdown" was also cut from Endless love. The hollys were punched using my MS Punch and crystals for the berries.
"Christmas" was cut from Quickutz cookie cutter dies- sorry I forget the name of the font.
The only drawback is that there aren't many things that fit into the tins. My daughter tried to get me to put dollars in there, but we "negotiated" down to 50 cents. I think she will be a chief negotiator someday.
Well, hope this project inspires you to spend some crafty time with your little ones!

First Chirstmas Card Sent!

For most of you who know me.. ever since I had my daughter, I haven't made Christmas cards. Frankly, it stresses me out to have to make so many, that I end up not doing it. Normally I just send out those photo cards to everyone since they all want to see Akemi anyway. But this year, since I've been re-inspired by all of you craft bloggers out there, I've decided to make a few cards for those that will appreciate them! Instead of going with traditional red and green, I decided to go with light blue for this card. I was pleasantly surprised to find this print on the back of a DP I bought from Island Scrapbooking. I had originally bought the paper for the other side, but found this side to have a winter feel to it. My cousin Laura won my birthday blog candy, so I decided to combine it with her xmas goodies and card. While growing up together, I remember her liking the color blue a lot, so I thought she would like this card... Actually have no idea if she still likes blue since my favorite color used to be yellow.. now I gravitate towards pink and red or color combos... Getting off track again.. back to the card! I picked up the holly MS punch and decided to make a wreath out of it. I stamped the sentiment on a circle and used it as a guide to placing my holly. Instead of using the very very small punched circles, I decided to use crystals for the berries. I think it came out nicer and much less difficult to handle than the small circle punches. Hope you like it! Its my first Christmas card in 5 years!!! Supplies: Sugar Plum stamp- CC's designs Markers- Copics DP- Bo Bunny Cardstock- Bazzil Stickles Crystals Holly punch- MS Crafts Ribbon Seasons Greetings sentiment- Hero Arts

Gobble Gobble!

My budding artist of a daughter made me this card for my birthday a few weeks ago...not sure why she decided to make a turkey card for me, but I think it has something to do with my birthday being in November.
Anyway, I guess I have some influence on her, because she made her card have a pop up- or should I say pop out...
Here's a close up so you can see what the turkey is saying...
She's still learning how to write, so excuse her backwards "g"s. I thought that was so clever! Anyway, since it was a turkey card, I thought it was appropriate to post it today! Gotta get ready to go eat turkey soon. Have a yummy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Everyone!
Thought I'd better post these Thanksgiving cards I made since its almost here! Yikes!! I can't believe its Thanksgiving already... Since I've been busy, I decided to make some simple cards using some of my favorite Thanksgiving images.
All of these images are digi's, so all I had to do was print them on my computer! This first image is by Two Scoops Rice. Check out their blog here. Renae is giving away free digis- in b&w and pre-colored! I chose the pre-colored one since I didn' t have time to color it myself. I was able to whip this card up in 5 minutes. To give it a little bling, I added liquid pearls for the whipped cream. Go to the Two Scoops Blog now to get your free digis of Mumford the Mouse. There is also a Christmas design with him that is available for free! Thanks Renae!
This next digi is by Pink Cat Studio. Betty has been baking pie for Thanksgiving Dinner. I think she's so sweet! This sentiment and a whole bunch more are free on the Pink Cat digital website... Lastly, I finally got around to using the new CC's Thanksgiving digis. I think these are cute since they go together! Also gave me a chance to use this cute Bo Bunny paper. Here's a close up of the two cuties. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving! BTW- Two Scoops Rice is having a Black Friday special.. check out their blog for more details... Also, for those of you who live in Hilo, Island Scrapbooking will be having some good deals that day too.. go to their blog for more info on black friday deals.

November OCS

Due to popular demand, Teri hosted the November and December OCS. My November OCS partner was Sherri. The card above is the card she sent me. Isn't it cute? I have the smaller sized embossing folders too, but never know quite what to do with them.. Gotta remember to try this technique the next time. Thank you Sherri!
Here's the card I sent to Sherri... I just got my manga santa girl from Funky Kits and wanted to use her on something, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity!
Here's a close up of the manga girl. I think she's so cute.

Sweet Lolli

Hi Everyone!
Is everyone ready for Thanksgiving??? I'm not. I guess since I'm not going home this weekend, I'm not in the mood. Plus I have to work the day after Thanksgiving- which is my normal shopping day- yes I'm the crazy one who goes out on Black Friday and buys the majority of my Christmas gifts.... but not this year. I guess it doesn't matter since the last time I spent Black Friday in Hilo, I pretty much finished all my shopping by 10:00am.
OK- enough grumbling... on to the post!
I forgot to post this goodie bag/card combo earlier. When Lolli Anya first came in, I had to make something with her- she's really cute yah? It was right after the first Craft Night at Island Scrapbooking, where Donna asked me how I add the white highlights into hair. I really didn't know how to do that, so Donna inspired me to figure it out. I'm really junk at hair, so this was definitely a challenge for me!
I made the card first... I chickened out and didn't leave the highlighted area white...
Then I decided to make the matching bag... I got braver here and tried to leave the highlights white. I guess it looks better from far away.
Supplies:
Lolli Anya- TGF
DP- Doodlebug Designs
Markers- Copics
Stickles
Cardstock- Bazzil
Swiss dots embossing folder- Cuttlebug
Lace border punch- Martha Stewart
Merry Christmas sentiment- IS custom laser cut
Well, hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving! I'm just glad I don't have to cook the turkey!

Miss Snow Anya Has Chicken Pox

I bought this Miss Anya set awhile ago and haven't played with it much. Now that its chilly outside, I thought about this stamp and thought it would go perfectly with my new Martha Stewart snowflake border punch! I decided to try embossing the "snow" all over the image as I've seen others do... here's how it turned out. I liked it... until my husband said it looked like she had chicken pox! He totally ruined it for me! Oh well, at least my coloring is improving. I tried to use more subtle colors for Miss Anya this time instead of bright bold colors that I normally use.
So do you think she looks like she has chicken pox?
Supplies:
Miss Anya- TGF
Markers- Copics
Swiss dots embossing folder- Cuttlebug

Christmas Cupcakes

Who doesn't want cupcakes at Christmas? Especially when they look as cute as these! These three cupcake stamps are new from Two Scoops Rice. I think my favorite is Santa.. no wait the reindeer... wait, its frosty... I don't know! I like them all! I guess that's why I put them all on one card. These stamps are good sized, so I had to use a 5x7 card instead of my normal A2 size.
For some reason, I just love how this Doodlebug paper matches with the Two Scoops Rice stamps. I guess they have the same cutsie feel to them, which is what I live for.
Well, I'm off to Honolulu this weekend! Yahoo! Feels like forever since I've been home! Can't wait to do some Christmas shopping and sneak in some craft shopping as well. Maybe I'll see you there?

More Birthday RAKs

My dear friends from my former life at Mauna Loa Macadamia took me out for a nice b-day lunch of tempura udon. Perfect food for our gloomy weather! My friend K.I. always spoils us with goodies- even if we are not the birthday girl! So sweet yah? So, she recently bought a big shot and has not looked back ever since. Love the Hello Kitty bag she made for me! As if the bag itself wasn't enough, she filled it with Hello Kitty post it notes from Las Vegas! If you ever come in to my office at work, you would know that I am a big post its fan. Everything is on post its- I don't think I would be able to survive without them. I'm really torn because these post its are so cute, I don't think I want to use them! Thank you KI!
Here's the goodies she made for "favors" and the card she made for me. Cute yah? I just love that 2 scoops rice fairies set! K.I.- Hurry up and start your blog already! :)

Frosty the Ice Cream Cone

Hope your Monday is better than mine... I've been sick today- the kind no one wants to get. Anyway, to cheer myself up, I thought I'd post this card I made using a Two Scoops Rice image. I think this snowman ice cream cone is the cutest! I made this card over the weekend when I was feeling better.
Here's a close up.. I used the Sizzix embossing folder because it reminded me of an ice cream cone pattern.
For dimension, I decided to use these mini pom poms that were in Christmas colors. So cute yah?
Supplies:
Snowman ice cream stamp- Two Scoops Rice
DP- Doodlebug Designs
Cardstock- Bazzil

Birthday Blog Candy Winner!!

OK- I know you guys aren't going to believe this... but I can honestly say that my little Akemi pulled the following name for the Birthday Blog Candy Winner.... Laura! In case you aren't aware, Laura is my cousin and if you look back at all the followers on my blog, I believe she is the first one to sign up! How appropriate yah? There was no special treatment because she's family either! Promise!! Congrats Laura! I'll send it to you soon. BTW- just a bit of funny info, when my blog was initially started it was called "Like Scrap?" because my DH thought that would be sooooo funny... So I did it, and my dear cousin Laura pointed out to me that since the blog address at the time was likescrap.blogspot.com, it also looked like "Likes Crap"....LOL! So, I quickly changed everything and the rest is history. Thought you would enjoy that one! Have a great Sunday!

Princess Ava or Snow White?

Princess Ava is another of the new Twinkle Tots line by TGF. I think I like her because she looks a lot like Snow White! Her clothes is a fancier version of the Disney version, but overall its the same look. Even her hair is the same. The only thing that doesn't match is that Snow White didn't kiss the frog. I don't think the frog minds.
Since they are kissing, I decided to use my red flocked paper (leftover from a failed Santa card experiment) and make a gatefold heart card. I mounted the card on a white scallop heart to make it look a little fancier. I guess you could also use this for valentine's day.

Supplies: Twinkle Tots Princess Ava: TGF Stickles Markers- Copics

Twinkle Tots Lottie

Hope you are having a nice and relaxing weekend! I decided to make another sample using the new Twinkle Tots Lottie stamp from TGF. I must admit that I didn't think she was that cute at first, but she's definitely growing on me.
I decided to practice coloring hair again... I feel like don't have a grip on where to shadow and highlight, but I think this one came out OK.
Since she was sitting down, I decided to make her sit on a fence. I used my Martha Stewart fence punch for it, though I don't think it would be comfortable to sit on in real life! LOL!
Supplies:
Twinkle Tots Lottie- TGF
Markers- Copics
Fence punch- Martha Stewart
DP- Doodlebug
Cardstock- Bazzil
Stickles
Cirlce and scallop circle punch- Marvy

Brrrrr!

TGIF! I don't know about you but its been pretty darn cold here in Hilo! Winter is definitely here- I think there's snow on the mountain!
What a weird week for me... I had to take off on Tuesday for my daughter's wavier day and Wednesday was a holiday, so I ended up working 3 days but all broken up. I'm all messed up! Anyway, hopefully I'll get my internal clock bakc on track soon.
This week Island Scrapbooking got in the new Twinkle Tots line from TGF. I decided to make a sample for the store using the new Bo Bunny paper that just arrived. I love this paper! The color combo is to die for!
Madelynn is my favorite from the Twinkle Tots collection. She is very sweet and all ready for warm weather. I had fun coloring her scarf and flower.
Well, off to pack my stuff for class tomorrow! Hope you have a great weekend! Don't forget to enter into my blog candy giveaway!

Oh My Goodness!!!

Well, its official... I'm another year older. Normally, my b-days are celebrated intimately with my family, but somehow this year the girls at Island Scrapbooking found out when my b-day was (how the heck did they figure it out?) and threw a surprise party for me. They are so cute- we had fun hanging out after Craft Night. Here's all the cute cards I got from the girls... The card featured above was by (drum roll please....) Michele! I hear Tracy contributed to the card too. Thanks girls! I feel so special having my name custom made! The next card was made by Donna.... I think she wanted to make me a Two Scoops Rice card since I'm now on the DT. Cute yah? She made popcorn and mochi crunch for me! This last card was from Debi... She knows how much I love Hello Kitty and made this cute card... Just love how she made the party hat for her! See this HK charm? Debi said she saw it a long time ago and bought it for me for my b-day. So sweet yah? I'm not using it- I love it on the card! I promise to take it out and look at it often. Thanks Debi! Here's some of the goodies they gave me... Gee, how did they know what I wanted??? Thanks girls... you really surprised me and made my day! I just love hanging out with all of you! Just Swinging By...

Happy Monday! Hope you had a good weekend. I have been a kit making machine lately. Didn't realize I had 2 classes scheduled for this week! Had to re-work one of the projects since the paper I needed didn't come in yet... It worked out though- I think it looks just as good.
So inbetween cutting kits, I managed to make this monkey card. Isn't he cute? He's from Your Next Stamp. Akemi's a monkey, so I thought I could always use it. I totally had a mission in mind when I bought him... I had to make him swing somehow!
So I used the same technique as I did with the Pink Cat swinging Lilly fairy stamp. I just cut out the monkey and used a brad to secure him to the card- which also allows the swinging motion. See how he swings from right to left?
Oops- forgot to show you the senitment inside... it says "Hi". Sorry!
Supplies:
Monkey stamp- YNS
Just Swinging By sentiment- printed from computer
DP- Bo Bunny
Cardstock- Bazzil
Markers- Copics
Brad- Doodlebug
oval and scallop oval dies- Spellbinders
Have a great week!
