Birthday Wishes Part 1

In the midst of all the craziness in my life, I managed to make a birthday gift for my bestie!  By now you've probably read about my epic crafty adventure with Lfundoo, so I won't bore you with that again... but since it's her birthday, I had to make her something right?!   So this is post one of three because, yes, it is that much photos of the stuff I made.

This card is actually the last of the projects that I made for her, but since it's the card, I thought I'd better post it first.  I wanted to use my corrugated card base and shabby it up a bit.

So first step was to gesso the card base.  Then I cut the Kaisercraft cardstock smaller than the card base and distressed it using my Prima tool.  Then I cut a slit in the middle of the paper and curled the edges out.  I also distressed those edges as well using the Prima too.  Since I wanted it more vintage-y, I used my new Prima chalk edgers (I love those!!!!!) around the edges.

Before gluing the cardstock to the base, I tied some seam binding around it and glued a bow earring to the center.  After adhering the cardstock to the base, I had to figure out what to put underneath the curled edges.  I searched my stash and found a new pack of wood veneers from Studio Calico!  I love wood veneer words.  I need to get more of them!  Then I inked it up using my inka gold (another must have) and glued it to the card.  It still needed something, so I dug some more and found a Korilakkuma!  Yay.  Glued him down and added on some pearl hearts.

Here's a close up of the bow earring.  I got these from our downtown LA trip.

After prettying up the card, I couldn't just leave the outside plain jane, so I started gluing away and here's what I came up with...

See Linda! I'm using my shabbies!  yay!

Hope you like all the goodies.  Will post Part 2 of 3 tomorrow!
