Washi Flower Pop Up- Attempt #2

If you follow my blog, you know that I often make several versions of the same card. Guess I like to practice until I understand how to do it. So, here's my 2nd attempt at this flower pop up card. This time, instead of using the cricut cut file for the flowers, I used the Dhalia Spellbinders die to cut the flowers. The only trouble I ran into on the mechanical side is that the washi doesn't slide open as well as the last card I made. I don't know if its the shape of the flower or the fact that the washi is more flimsy than the cardstock. Need to experiment more on this! In the meantime, here's how the card came out...
Here's the inside.... I still don't know if I really like the busy washi paper as the flower.
Here's a close up so you can see how much it pops up.
Supplies used:
Dhalia die- Spellbinders
Washi- Hanko designs
Leaf die- Spellbinders
Crystals- Crystal Accents
Thank you stamp- Hero Arts
Cardstock- Bazzil

I think it's the weight of the paper. When I made a version of this card from snowflakes, cut from lighter weight paper, it didn't work as well. The paper has to be heavy enough to keep its shape as it pulls the next flower open.

I love the way that paper looks, though! I don't think it's too "busy."

Hi Everyone!
Thanks for all the nice comments.

Carol- You were right- the washi is not heavy enough... I made another card I will post later.

Kelli- Go to my original post for more info. I found the online video tutorial on Eunice's blog post. It shows you how to do it step by step... if you can't figure it out- email me.
