And here's a close up of the cute witch. I think she's from CC's Designs.

September OCS- Summer Card

Here's the card I made for this month's OCS hosted by my GF Linda.. Its a great way to meet other crafters and exchange ideas! October sign ups should be announced soon, so if you are interested, check out her blog for the announcement. So, Linda has been challenging us for each OCS since she's taken over from Teri... This month's theme it to create a summer card. Since I've made a few summer themed cards this year, I decided to find an image that I haven't used recently. While browsing through my stash, I found this Mermaid Lilly set by Pink Cat Studio that I bought last year. She reminds me of summertime, so I decided to use her for my card. As you probably already know, I LOVE distress inks, so I had to incorporate it somehow on my card. Since they are blendable, it made a nice watery background for Lilly. I added some crystals using my flourish template and added the CC's sentiment that coordinates so well with mermaids and other sea life. My OCS partner this month is Brenda (Punch Queen). Hope she likes it! Supplies:
  • Mermaid Lilly stamp- Pink Cat Studio
  • Fintastic sentiment- CC's Designs
  • Distress inks- Ranger
  • Stickles
  • Crystals- Hero Arts
  • Cardstock- Bazzil

September OCS From The Punch Queen

I was floored when I got my OCS from Brenda this month. She has dazzled me again with her punch creativity! I just don't see my punches the way she does- so creative yah? She snuck in some goodies that she also made- I love it! Thank you Brenda! My daughter is year of the monkey, so the monkey photo holder is perfect to tote her photos with me. The bear post it holder is cute too. I put them back in the plastic for now- I need to just admire them for awhile before I use them! OK- so here's a better look at that gorgeous card! Look at all the bling on those feathers! OK- here's a beter look at the bling.. I also love the embossing folder she used for the background. I actually have that embossing folder but have not used it yet. Looks like I need to try it out too! Here's that oh so cute monkey! And the bear post it holder... Thank you so much Brenda! I love all of it!

August Tag Swap

Getting a head start on Christmas tags this year. I've never really made my own Christmas tags, so this is something new for me. I'm kinda lazy when it comes to Christmas wrapping, so I usually don't make my own tags. I think its cause I have to wrap all the gifts at my house AND normally need to wrap all of my mom's gifts too. Luckily she doesn't give as many gifts as she used to, so its not so bad anymore, but I used to get burnt out and after awhile, didn't care what it looked like! Anyway- Kyoko started up this tag swap this month, so I signed up cause I thought it would be fun to make new friends and get some cool ideas. The rules are to make 3 identical tags to swap with your partner. Well, I kinda broke the rules as you can see... I didn't make mine identical. I tend to get bored and wanted to use some of my new paper, so I used the same design but just changed out the colors. Do you like it? The bear is from one of my favorite companies- Lili of the Valley stamps. I'm expecting a big order soon of new Christmas stamps that I'll definitely have to use on future tag projects. My partner this month was Jodi of Inked Inspirations. I finally met Jodi at the Islander Girl's Social 2 this month and she is so sweet. She even gave me some tips for using the Copic Airbrush system. I haven't bought one yet but I'm thinking about it... Thanks Jodi! Anyway, as you probably already know, Jodi is an awesome colorer (is that a word?) and overall awesome crafter. Did you know she was on 8 or 9 Design Teams?? She wasn't even sure, guess cause it was so many. I don't know how she keeps up. Anyway, I was very intimidated to be paired with her since she does such nice work. I was actually planning on doing something with punches or dies to be honest, but then I got brave and decided to color up this bear. I hope Jodi likes it! Here's a close up of each tag... Mounted the bear on star shaped nestibilities since he's holding a star. Star was colored in with gold Smooch- which is hard to see in the photos. Had to include a pink one since I found this cute pink snowflake paper at Cute Stuff! Supplies:
  • Bear- Lili of the Valley
  • Smooch
  • Star dies- Spellbinders
  • Stickles
  • Metallic cardstock- American Crafts
  • DP- Imaginisce, Fancy Pants

August OCS

Happy Sunday Everyone! Just wanted to share the card I got from Myra for the August OCS. I met Myra at one of Teri's classes awhile back and recently saw her again at the Islander Girls Social 2. She's so sweet- look at the goodies she sent me! That Kit Kat was from Marukai and ono- can you see that the box is open? My DD tried to steal it from me but my DH caught her and told her that it was MINE! hee hee. She also gave me some washi paper too. Here's a close up of the card... I forgot to take a photo of the inside, but she decorated that too. Thank you Myra!

August OCS- Asian Card Challenge

Since my buddy Linda took over the OCS, she's issued us some challenges! Last month's challenge was to use words as your focal point and boy was that hard for me! This month's challenge was a bit easier and oh so inspiring! She asked us to make an asian themed card. I love asian themed stamps, paper, etc. so I couldn't decide what to do for my card.
While purchasing Cupcake Anya from the TGF website, I shopped around to see if there were any other digis I wanted and decided on Karate Anya. I've always thought she was so cute but didn't think I had any use for Anya in her gee... and then it hit me! Her hairdo reminded me of Chun Li (any Street Fighter fans out there?) or Shampoo (any Ranma fans??), so I thought I could definitely do some altering and utilize that cute 'do. (or maybe she has the Princess Leia's donut rolls?).
Since the challenge was an asian theme, I thought it would be perfect to put Karate Anya's head on Geisha Anya's body. Honestly, I'm not that fond of Geisha Anya's head, so this was an exciting idea I couldn't wait to try. I think this was my first time altering an Anya. I cheated and just cut the kimono off of Geisha and put it on Karate. Sort of like paper dolls. I think it would freak me out to cut off Karate Anya's head!
Enough of my issues... for the rest of the card, I decided to use some washi paper scraps and Island Scrapbooking mini sakura laser cuts. Love how its cut with the glitter paper so I don't have to go over it with my stickles. Finished it off with a Hero Arts Kanji thank you stamp. Because gold mirrored cardstock is so scarce nowdays, I decided to use some old gold origami type paper instead. Since its a card (and not scrapbook), don't need to worry about being archival safe.
Here's a close up of Karate Geisha Anya. I added bows to each bun. Her kimono was colored with Copics and Spica (glitter) pens. I kinda like how the gold came out.
And as a tribute to my friend Teri... I decorated the inside of the card! My OCS partner this month was Myra... Hi Myra! Hope you like this card! I met Myra at one of Teri's classes awhile ago. She is so sweet and I'm so glad she started her own blog. Check it out here...
Supplies:
  • Karate Anya- TGF
  • Geisha Anya clothes- TGF
  • Thank you kanji- Hero Arts
  • Thank you sentiment (inside)- CC's Designs
  • Sakura- Island Scrapbooking laser cuts
  • border punch- SU
  • Oval and scallop oval punch- SU
  • Ribbon
  • Washi paper- source unknown
  • Origami paper (gold)- Hanko

July OCS- Better Late Than Never!

Wowee- July sure flew by so quickly! I barely had enough time to finish up my OCS- in fact I had to ask for more time! Sorry Grace!
This month Linda challenged us to use words as the focal point of the card. I found this to be extremely challenging. I normally add in a stamped image or die cut as my focal point, but I had to keep reminding myself not to do that. I settled on flowers as accents so that it would not overwhelm the words.
This sentiment is so cute! Its from the new Greeting Farm Sunshine set. Since the set is made for scrapbooking, the words are rather large and didn't fit nicely on a regular A2 sized card, so I had to super-size it.
Found this cute paper to use as the background- the cool thing is that I flipped it over for the inside of the card! Accented the bottom of the cover using my MS daisy border punch.
Here's the inside of the card. Loved the fact that I could use both sides of that DP- and it was perfect since the writing matched the sentiment on the front of the card!! Couldn't resist adding these cute flowers from the Sunshine kit since they are smiling.
Here's the card I received from Grace. Isn't it awesome? I love how she cut the corners of the blocks to form the hole for the Many Thanks sentiment. I'll need to remember this layout for future use. Thanks Grace!
Here' s a close up of the focal point...

June OCS

By the time you read this I will be off to Honolulu! Yay! My vacation is FINALLY starting and I can't be happier!! Talk about totally needing some R&R! My big bro is flying in w/his family, so me and Akemi are going to visit with her cousins. She's so excited too.
Had my first Furlough Friday and it was pretty awesome. Yes, the cut in pay sucks, but having extra time off is appreciated. I was able to do some last minute stuff before my trip- thank goodness I had the extra time off cause I wouldn't have made it otherwise.
So the Hello Kitty card you see above was from my June OCS partner Dena... She told me she likes Doodlebug a lot so I knew we would get along... I love Hello Kitty too, so I was so happy to get her card! Thank you Dena!
Since the theme this month was to make a card using something that was your favorite, this is what I came up with... Snuggle is still one of my favorite images, so I knew I had to use her. I also found a new love in distress inks, so had to do some of that in my favorite color combo- pink and brown.. Hope you like it Dena!
Here's a close up of Snuggle.

May OCS

Hi Everyone! What a busy week! I'm just glad today is Sunday and I have a day to relax. Received this cute card from Joni at Crafty Hula Hands for my May OCS. Isn't it so cute?? She made this Cheeky stamp by TGF dangle from the top of this tent card using jump rings. I had to laugh because I was kinda late in sending my card to her and forgot to take a photo of it. (You can see my card on her blog.) She wrote to me and told me that she forgot to write in my card, so the card came to me blank. I guess we were both rushing to finish! Thank you Joni! Love the card!

April OCS

I was happy to be partnered up with Joy from Tamiko's for this month's OCS. This is the last month that Teri will host the OCS, but the OCS will continue on because Linda and Kyoko have taken it on for all of us! A big mahalo to Teri for coordinating the OCS- its such a fun way to meet new people who share the love of card making! Thanks to Linda and Kyoko too for allowing it to continue!
So, I think I remember that Joy's favorite color is blue, hopefully I'm right cause I went with blue for the card. I also decided to use this as an opportunity to enter into the Tamiko's challenge #2- Nestibilities. I decided to use my Dhalia Nesties and make a pop up flower card- which I haven't made in such a long time, I had to pull out my instructions again. Hope she likes it!
Here's a close up of Emma...
And here's what the card looks like when its opened...

March OCS card from Mama

I was thrilled to get my card for the March OCS hosted by Teri. If you haven't participated in this swap yet, you really should- its not a lot of pressure since its only one card and its fun to meet other crafters and share ideas.
As I mentioned earlier when I posted the card I made for the OCS, my partner for March was 1 Luvn Mama. I was so happy since she makes beautiful cards and had just sent me a thank you card for the calendar I made for her. Well, she did not disappoint! I love this card! She chose to make a tent card using one of the spring elves from the new Sweet November set. I never made this type of card before, but I've been inspired to try it out now! She used some jump rings to hang the elf down from the top of the oval. What a great idea! I'm gonna totally CASE that! And don't you just love the little bunny in the corner?
j
Check out her beautiful coloring!
Here's a side view of the card so you can see that its a tent...
Thank you Mama! Love it!!

Greetings Everyone! Look at this gorgeous card from Tia! Tia doesn't have a blog yet but she should definitely start one to share all her cute projects! I love Flutter Anya and LOVE how she colored her wings! So cute! I'll have to try that one day. Thanks Tia!! I mailed out your card today (sorry so late!). I'll post my card to Tia at the end of the week.
