Happy 7th Birthday Island Scrapbooking!

As you can see, the Island Scrapbooking Girls and I have been very busy getting ready for the store's 7th Anniversary Party today! Each of us had a hand in making these 50 favor bags for the event. The first 50 customers will receive one of these goodie bags as a thank you for being great customers over the past 7 years. In addition, we have a lot of other things planned... please stop by if you are in Hilo- you won't want to miss out on all the fun!
  • Free Make 'n Takes (one by me and one by Debi). I will be showing you how to make the strawberry box and basket that was posted here.. If you plan on participating, please bring scissors with you to help speed up the process. Debi will be making a cute ornament that could also be used as a tag. I definitely want to make that one myself!!
  • Unreal in-store specials! Michele has put a lot of things on sale and if its not on sale, you can probably use your 40% off coupon if you are an Island Scrapbooking member. Here's some of the things on sale: Copics (yes- Copics!!), CC's Designs stamps, Greeting Farm Stamps, Spellbinder Dies, Martha Stewart Punches, and all printed paper!! Plus all red tagged items will be an additional 50% off of red tag (we added new items to red tag- so you'll definitely want to check that out too!)
  • What's a party without games!? Remember we hid some geckos around the store last year? Well, this year I hid some honus (mounted on the big island) in different colors around the store again for you to find. We also have a fun- Guess Who Made This Card game where customers can guess which DT member (Donna, Tracy, Kelli, Michele, Debi, or myself) made each card. Some of them are really old, and not so easy to figure out!
  • Hourly prize drawings, plus additional opportunities for you to win! Qualifying purchases will get you entries to win Island Scrapbooking gift certificates, plus if your goodie bag has a little stowaway, you might just win a prize! Don't forget... bloggers/facebook followers can print out the extra blog entry form found on the Island Scrapbooking Blog for another change to be entered into the drawings!
  • Don't forget to bring in a handmade birthday card to enter into our card contest! A random winner will be drawn for one of our prizes. We can't wait to see what creative cards come in!
Phew... is that it? I'm not sure.. we may have more surprises up our sleeves tomorrow. If you don't know where we're located, you can find us at the corner of Ponahawai and Kilauea. Check out the Island Scrapbooking blog for more information on the sale. See you at the store!

Island Scrapbooking Anniversary Sale Make 'n Take

Hi All! I'm very excited to show you my make 'n take project for the Island Scrapbooking Anniversary sale happening next week Saturday 10/16. I've been wanting to do this project as a class, but just couldn't figure out how to package the strawberries. After going back and forth on what kind of make 'n take to do for the sale day, I finally remembered about this strawberry box template that I had. I also remembered how to make this simple box but ended up sizing it down to fit the strawberries better. OK- so here's the scoop... if you want to make this strawberry box and basket, make sure you stop by Island Scrapbooking on Saturday 10/16 in the morning. I only cut 20 kits, so it will be first come, first served. Debi will be doing another make 'n take in the afternoon, so if you miss mine, you might be able to catch her's. Oh yah- and if possible, please bring your own scissors if you have them. This will move things along much quicker than if you have to share! In addition to the free make 'n takes, there will be prize drawings, games, and in-store specials on sale day only. This is Island Scrapbooking's biggest sale of the year, so you won't want to miss out on the festivities. Just Michele's way of saying thank you to all her loyal customers! Here's a close up of the strawberry box. I think people have fit those ono Ferro Rocher (sp?) in them, but I think Hershey Kisses would fit just nicely. Supplies:
  • Cardstock- Bazzil
  • Plumeria (stem)- Island Scrapbooking laser cut
  • Ribbon
  • DP- October Afternoon
  • Border punch- MS Crafts
  • Brads
  • Flowers- Petaloo

Phew!

Wow, what a day! It was a crazy, fun filled sale day at Island Scrapbooking. Boy am I pooped! We had alot of fun, doing make 'n takes, games, eating, coloring, laughing, and just plain having fun! It was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves so much, some even came back in the afternoon to do the 2nd make 'n take that Debi did! Some just chose to hang out all day! We had several customers present at a number of the hourly drawings.
OK, I know I'm such a bone head for not taking a photo of my make 'n take! Duh! I'll go back to the store and take a photo later. Sorry! In the meantime, here's Debi's make 'n take.... She did her cute popsicle card! Later on, Carol dropped off some small popsicle sticks and Debi quickly went to work on the smaller version! I didn't get a chance to make the smaller one, but here's the prototype Debi made. She's so awesome!
Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate! It wouldn't have been as much fun hanging out at the store all day if no one showed up!
A special thanks to my daughter Akemi for working so hard yesterday helping us get ready for the sale! She kept herself busy making these cool cards using punches. We "cased" the spider from Teri's blog, but came up with a few more animals using the same punches... Thanks for the idea Teri! My daughter had a blast and decided she wanted to teach her grandma how to make some too!
She decided the spider needed a nose and a hat...
Here she tried makign a flower... do you like her eyelashes? She must've made it a girl, because all her girls have eyelashes...
Here's her jellyfish.... She wanted to write Have a Jellin day. Not sure what that means but it sure is cute!
Finally, I liked her octopus so much, I decided to make a card using it. Since Island Scrapbooking now carries these new phrases in laser cuts, I decided to use the Happy Birthday sentiment. DP is by Doodlbug, I thought it was the perfect match!
I'll be posting more photos of the anniversary sale on the Island Scrapbooking blog, so check it out soon (not now, I'm too tired!)... Going to go to bed now.

Hi All! In case you are in Hilo tomorrow, just thought I'd let everyone know that there is going to be a HUGE sale at Island Scrapbooking! The Fall Cleaning Sale Event is a chance for local crafters to clean out their craft rooms and sell off old items they no longer use (or ever used at all!!). Its a chance for customers to get great deals on used craft supplies. Its not limited to just paper crafting either... I had a sneak peek today and saw a lot of stuff... rubber stamps, dies, paper, punches, embellishments, storage containers, beads, bags, paper trimmers and even a printer!! Its first come first served, so better to get their early for best selection. On top of that, they are having a lot of in-store specials:
  • Dew Drops are buy one, get one 1/2 off
  • Assorted solid cardstock will be 2/$1
  • Washi paper will be $1.99 each (reg. $2.49/sheet)
  • 1/2 off of red tag prices on clearance items! There are killer deals to be had in this section! I even saw some Greeting Farm stamps and Sizzix dies there!

I really shouldn't be telling you about all the good deals since I plan on going shopping myself! But I just couldn't let all of you in Hilo pass up this great opportunity! I'll be there helping Michele and Tracy wherever I can, so stop in and say hello!
