Serenity

Woo Hoo!  Three days in a row!  Are you still there? Did you faint yet?  Yes, its no joke, I did post three days in a row- amazing yah?  See!  I told you I'd try harder to be a better blogger!  Ok enough patting myself on the back...

So this project features another new set of papers that I'm in love with.  Its a new line by Bo Bunny called Serenity.  Love all the coordinating papers and matching embellishments!  Totally takes the guess work out of scrapbooking.  I like this line so much, I'm finally making my Japan trip album using these papers!  I'll share those once I finish them- right now they are half finished.

I decided to do another pop up scrapbook using these papers. Pop up scrapbooks are such crowd pleasers right?  Well combined with these papers, I'm sure the recipient will love it!

This is my last project for now, so hopefully by the time you read this I will have finished another project in time to post.  We'll see!

Just Me Thinking of You

Ohayogozaimasu! Wanted to share this pop up scrapbook I made for Island Scrapbooking. I normally make the card version, but Michele asked me to make the larger size so that customers can see how big you can make it. This was a bit of a challenge since I didn't really have photos in mind to use but really wanted to use this Prima paper since it has that distress look. Decided to go with my CC's Swiss Pixie stamps since the paper reminds me of fairies. It was really hard for me to leave a lot of "white space", but I guess it will look nicer and more finished once photos are in it.

Monster Birthday!

Hi Everyone! I'm soooo happy this is a short week. Tomorrow is my Friday since Friday is really a holiday! Woo Hoo! Still gotta finish cutting kits for my class on Friday, but took a break to make this Monster Pop Up Card. Found the tutorial on Teri's blog (thanks Teri!) and adapted the size so that it was smaller to use as a card. Once in awhile I think of how to add some pizzaz to the card by adding hanging stuff from it.. The last one I did looked like an obon since I hung lanterns across the top of the card (click here). As I was looking at the obon card, I got inspired by the hanging lanterns and thought of flag banners- the kind you used to see at car dealerships and thought that would be cool to hang from the top of this card! This monster stamp set by Hero Arts was the perfect match for a birthday card, so I used that to decorate the card. Here's the inside of the card.... see the flag banner? I just cut out triangles on the fold and put adhesive inside so it clamped over the string.
Here's the top view of the card so you can see what I mean about the flag banner...
Hope you like it! The tedious part was coloring and cutting out all those small monsters! Let's just say that this card is definitely one of a kind (translation: I won't be making another one anytime soon!).
Supplies:
  • Cardstock- Bazzil
  • DP- Doodlebug
  • Monsters & Sentiments- Hero Arts
  • Ribbon
  • Scallop circle and circle punch- Marvy

Pop Up Scrapbook Card

Hi All! Hope your week is starting out well. Worked on this card over the weekend. I had told Tracy about my idea and was dying to show it to her after I finished it last night. Since I wanted it to be a surprise, I didn't want to post it till I could show it to her in person. This is actually Teri's Pop Up Scrapbook that I scaled down to card size. Instead of using 12x12 paper, I used 8x8, so each square came out to a 4x4 size.
I didn't really intend to give this card to anyone, but since the girls at Island Scrapbooking have become my friends, I thought I'd give this to all of them...
Here's the first "page"... Caption says "Meeting new friends"
"Page" 2... "Who share"
"Page" 3.. "The same interests"
Finally- the last page... "as you!"
See, she's now with all of her new friends!
In case you are wondering, yes, I stamped the lanterns, stickled them, and then cut each one out. I then strung them using a lei needle. I poked holes in each page and knotted them so that the lanterns would stay in that section.
It actually didn't take as much time as I thought it would. Waiting for the stickles to dry took the longest.
Don't know if you can tell, but each doll actually pops out from the background. It reminds me of a little doll house. I guess that's why I decided to use the Japanese doll set by Hero Arts.
Supplies used:
Japanese girls- Hero Arts
Markers- Copics
Washi paper- Hanko designs
Cardstock- Bazzil
Sakura punch
Crystals- Hero Arts
Stickles
Gold cord
Ribbon
Dew Drops
Have a great week!

Anniversary Pop Up Scrapbook

My mom has got to be the hardest person to buy a gift for. The only thing she seems to like from her kids are things that we make for her. It would be so much easier if buying her a nice blouse would make her happy, but I can just hear her say... "Thanks, but I really like it when you make me scrapbooks.".. Yes, my mom is very blunt and has been known to say- "Why would I want that? I only have one body", or "I have so much stuff in my house, I don't need any more stuff", or even "Even free I don't want it!". That last one was stated at a local craft fair in which I had to hold my head down in shame. I have since trained her to be more considerate in front of crafters since they are the ones who actually make the stuff and can get hurt feelings from these types of comments- I know, I've been there.
OK- so back to the story about the scrapbook. Joe (stepdad) is a photo fanatic. He is the one who makes everyone take photos during gatherings that we all dread, but are actually happy later when we get the photos.
So, keeping these two personalities in mind... a scrapbook is probably the best gift you can give to them... unless of course you are willing to do their yard. Now that I got the hang of making the pop up scrapbook featured on Teri's blog, I decided that this would be an easy but impressive gift to give to them to document their Anniversary party. Given the fact that we had only about 10 photos taken the whole day, I don' t think I would have had enough photos for a regular scrapbook anyway.
Here's the 1st "page".
2nd "page"
Mom's face just shows how surprised she was!
We couldn't fit everyone in one photo, so we took photos by table.
Last page..
It sure was fun surprising them. I hope they like this gift!

A Sweet Day...

Akemi sure had a sweet day in May...On May 28th, she celebrated her 5th birthday AND she graduated from pre-school. She felt so special. To document this special day, I decided to try out the Pop Up Scrapbook that Teri (Big Ideas From A Little Girl) posted on her blog. It was much easier than it looked! Thank you Teri! Here's the cover... Do you like her hair? I took her to get it done for her special day. Starting young... I know. First page is about her b-day party at school. DH and I took pizza, cupcakes and goodie bags for her class. I just dig her "crown". That thing was waaaaaay bigger than her head. Next we have her and her best friend. She talks about her BFF all the time, so I just had to get a photo of them together. Luckily, they will be going to the same elementary school. Here we have Akemi with her teacher, Miss Stacie. This is when she got her "diploma" at the graduation ceremony. And the other photo is the proud parents with our little graduate. Sigh, time sure flies! I'm sure her HS graduation will be here in the blink of an eye. Finally, the proud grandparents with their little princess... OK- I'm going to try to remember all of the supplies I used.. Here goes: All dies- Sizzix All stamps- Hero Arts Stickles Carstock- Bazzil DP- Doodlebug Designs Sentiments- printed from computer Crystals- Hero Arts Phew! I think thats about it. Hope you have a great week!
