If Friends Were Flowers...

I've been meaning to work on my class samples for my upcoming Copic class at Island Scrapbooking, but didn't get around to it until this week. I normally include a card with a person in it so they can practice coloring hair, clothes, etc. Greeting Farm images work really well since they are pretty large and easier to color and shade than smaller stamps. Decided to go out of my comfort zone and pair up yellow with brown. This Lawn Fawn sentiment is so cute and matched the background paper so nicely. Here's a close up of Flirty Anya... Well, today's another Furlough Friday for me! I am gonna miss these if we have to give them up. I have another class sample to share with you tomorrow- talk to you soon!

Seas the Day!

I feel really bad about this card because I had started working on it awhile ago and had every intent of finishing it before my class last week. Well, I guess I got distracted and didn't finish it till now. I wanted to show the class the versatility of making this pleated pop up card and how fun it can be. Oh well, hopefully they check my blog to see this sample. In a way, I'm glad that I didn't finish in time... since I waited so long, the new Surfer Anya had arrived at Island Scrapbooking and I was able to use her on the front of the card! I bet she could give Surfer Ian good rubs yah? Let me tell ya, her hair was a real challenge for me. Now I know why I like coloring straight hair better. Oh yah, also wanted to point out that I put diamond glaze on her surfboard to make it look shiny. Here's the inside of the card when its opened. I hand cut the "waves" using acetate and then used my handy dandy distress applicator and put the felt pads on top and used my alcohol inks. I used blue for the water color and then added the pearly white and silver colors for the foam. Do you likey? Ian looked lonely surfing by himself, so I found some friends to go surfing with him. Both critters are from the Lawn Fawn Critters in the Sea set. This set is really cute and the images are a good size to either be the focal point or the accessory to the card. Adhered the turtle behind the wave so it looks like he's swimming. Well, tomorrow is another furlough Friday for me... Sigh- I'm going to miss them! Gotta make sure I have everything for my class. Have a great weekend!

Treat Box Card

I've been seeing these neat treat box cards all over the blogs and finally made one myself. Got the instructions from Splitcoast Stampers (click here). It was actually pretty easy to put together and the box is big enough to hold different types of candies or other goodies. I knew nuggets would fit, so Michele helped me cover some up with matching DP, which really helped to dress up the left side of the card. Thanks Michele! Think I'll go make some more!

XOXO!

OK- how many of you out there watch Gossip Girl? Yes, its my guilty pleasure that drive's my DH insane! He can't stand that show and always makes fun of the tag line- "X-O-X-O" whenever I'm watching it. All I can say is that he's very lucky we don't have digital cable in our office, so I have to watch it in the living room. Back to the card... so while making this card for Island Scrapbooking, I ran across an old Hero Arts Valentine's Day set that had the sentiment "XOXO". I couldn't help myself and decided to use this stamp as my sentiment. This Anya girl kinda looks like she would live on the upper east side, so I thought it was a perfect match! When I showed it to my DH, I told him that this was going to be his Valentine's Day card! Ha ha ha ha ha! Well, it just wouldn't be Gossip Girl without a little bling bling, so I added crystals as an accent along with some roses by Wild Orchid Crafts and Prima. The heart background is just a doily- perfect for Valentine's Day. Hope you had a great Valentine's day! I'm off to Kona for a few days of interviews, but have some pre-scheduled posts, so stop by tomorrow to see the other projects I've been working on!

Friends Are Special Treasures

Here's another Greeting Farm stamp that I finally had time to ink up... Flirty Anya! Wow- I think she was released several moons ago, but I still like her just the same. Since she's a bit flirty, I thought this old Doodlebug heart paper was just the perfect background to use for her. The sentiment is from a new Hero Arts set that I am crazy about! It has a bunch of sentiments in these funky styles that are fun and flirty just like Flirty Anya. To accent the sentiment, I just used my red stickles and made a heart since I didn't have any heart stickers... go figure? Supplies:
  • Flirty Anya- TGF
  • DP- Doodlebug
  • CS- Bazzil
  • Stickles
  • Sentiment- Hero Arts
  • Heart- Spellbinders

Fancy Anya Valentine's

Here's the newest Anya to arrive at The Greeting Farm... isn't she cute? Fancy Anya is perfect for valentine's day- she looks so sweet in her little dress. Had to use her with the new Imaginisce Garden Party papers. Layered some lace too to give it a sweet look. Finished it off with some roses and I was done.. Gotta share that the roses were totally inspired by watching the Golden Globes red carpet the other night. Seems like lots of gowns had rose accents on them in some form or another, so I decided to add them to my card. Must be watching too much E! I can feel my husband's eyes rolling as I type this. This one didn't take me as long to figure out as some of the other cards I worked on recently. Isn't it strange how sometimes it just comes together so easily and sometimes it a painful process. Well, I'm happy to share all my newest creations with you... I'm pre-posting this but by the time you read it I will be well into the start of my 3 day weekend. Aaaaaah! Supplies:
  • Fancy Anya- TGF
  • Sentiment- Hero Arts
  • Circle and lacey circle nestibilities- Spellbinders
  • Lace- Walmart (sorry no company)
  • DP- Imaginisce
  • Roses- Wild Orchid Crafts

If Friends Were Flowers I'd Pick You

So I got Sweet Anya about a month ago, but she's not seen ink till now. I have been dying to play with her but the holidays and everything made crafting for fun take a back seat to other priorities. Now that Island Scrapbooking is re-opening, Michele asked the girls if we could make some new samples for the store, so I thought this was a great excuse to ink up my new, but unused stamps. Since this cutie is so sweet, I thought these new Bo Bunny papers were the perfect compliment to her. The sentiment is by Lawn Fawn and seemed to match the floral paper perfectly. Added in the MS border punch for a lacey look. I know it doesn't look like it but I spent almost one night working on this card! Had to re-do it in its entirety once, but I finally got it where I'm OK with it. Have much more to share, so stop in again soon! Supplies:
  • Sweet Anya- TGF
  • Sentiment- Lawn Fawn
  • Border punch- MS Crafts
  • DP- Bo Bunny

You Warm My Heart

Island Scrapbooking got in some new Greeting Farm stamps recently and I went a little crazy. Guess I haven't bought TGF in awhile, so it was fun to buy some of the new images. I picked up the set called I Heart Sweaters, which also comes with a Ian stamp. Made this card in a hurry for Craft Night last Friday- theme was to make a card in a Fall theme, so I thought this stamp would be perfect to use. To make it look more like fall, I chose fall colors. The tree die is by Sizzix and instead of cutting the leaves in green, I decided to cut it from red and orange. Added the sentiment on a heart since it says "You Warm My Heart". Not bad for a 15 minute card! I think what took the longest was trying to find my tree die! It was nice taking a break from all that calendar making, but now I must get back to work.

October Tag Swap

Hi All! It's almost the weekend! Hope your week is going well. Wanted to share my tags for the October tag swap that Kyoko hosts every month on her blog... If you want to participate next month, be sure to check it out regularly for when sign ups are open. My partner this month was Leanne- go check out her blog here for some cute projects! I've been enjoying this swap a lot. We are supposed to make three identical tags to swap with our partner... but I didn't follow the rules again and made three similar tags- not identical. Sorry! I used these cute snowmen by TGF. This is a set from last year that I just adore! After stamping and coloring each snowman, I stamped a snowflake background stamp over the image with versamark. Then carefully added in some mica powders (different color on each card) on the background around the snowman. The camera doesn't pick up the shimmer of the mica powder, so you'll have to trust me that its metallic looking. After I was done coloring, I punched out the tags with my circle punch and then layered them on a Spellbinder large scallop die and topped it off with some ribbon. Hope Leanne likes it! Here's close ups of each tag.... Hope you will join the tag swap! Maybe you'll be my partner next month! Supplies:
  • Snowman stamps- TGF
  • Snowflake background stamp- Hero Arts
  • Mica powders
  • Circle punch- EK Success
  • Large scallop circle die- Spellbinders
  • Ribbon

Challenge Time!

What can I say?! I've been inspired by all those challenges out there lately... this card came together without that much effort and seems to qualify for a few challenges! Here's the challenges I'm entering: How exciting! I've never entered the Flutterby Wednesday challenge before so this is really rare for me to have 3 for the price of one! So Tamiko's Creative Team is challenging everyone to alter an Anya. Normally I would do the head switcharoo, but I decided to be brave and try opening up the eyes. Let me explain a little about my altered Anya. I've been wanting to try this for AGES! Ever since I saw Amy (A thousand Sheets of Paper) do a tutorial on this I've been dying to try. Once you have all the right tools, its not that hard. I finally got my new light box (little problems with the batteries, but now works fine) and new Copic Multiliner pen so I was able to try this out. It was fun choosing which images to combine together. Can you guess which two images I used? Well, I think the Angel Anya is a dead giveaway, but I also used Fleur Anya's eyes. I guess you can't tell since their eyes are pretty much the same. I'm sure you'll be seeing more of this technique again soon. Next, I've been playing around with acetate cards, so I wanted to practice a bit more and added Angel Anya to acetate instead of regular cardstock. I think this qualifies for the All that Scraps Challenge this week. Believe me- acetate cards are pretty challenging! Finally, I normally use bling on my cards, plus I used Angel Anya, so she qualifies me for Flutterby Wednesday! Not sure if you can tell, but she has stickles on her wings. Also added pearl bling and glittered sakura's as accents. Here's a close up of Angel Anya. I like her with her eyes open! I feel like a proud mama! Supplies:
  • Angel Anya- TGF
  • Sakura- Island Scrapbooking
  • Pearl Bling- Kaisercrafts
  • Sweet Wonderful You sentiment- Hero Arts
  • Labels dies- Spellbinders
  • DP- Best Creations
  • Stickles

Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day everyone! Just wrapping up another 4 day weekend and getting ready for another 4 day work week. I am getting used to this furlough business and now I don't think I want to go back to a 5 day week! Anyway, since I was on a roll with this technique, thought I'd share another card... Karate Anya makes another appearance wearing Geisha Anya's clothes here since she was so popular the last time around. I really love this look on her- I think she'll be borrowing Geisha's clothes more often! Used two tones of pink this time for the background and lots and lots of glitter. I stamped the acetate using a large sakura background clear stamp from Fiskars. I love this stamp a lot and thought it would be nice on the acetate. Here's a close up of Karate Anya... Supplies:
  • Karate Anya and Geisha Anya's clothes- TGF
  • Sakura background- Fiskars
  • Distress inks- Ranger
  • Sakuras- Island Scrapbooking
  • Glitter
  • Crystal Glaze
  • Acetate
  • Cardstock- Bazzil
  • Tissue paper

Xmas Sweeties Snowflake Card

On my last trip home, Aunty Jan told me about this technique (not sure what its called) but you use Diamond Glaze on Acetate to get this cool effect. I didn't have Diamond Glaze, but found that the glaze I had worked just as well. Had to stamp on the acetate using Staz On ink. This time I used white Staz On since the snowflakes are white. Added glitter too for some glitz- love the effect it gave to the project. Here's a close up of Xmas Sweetie.... Supplies:
  • Xmas Sweetie- TGF
  • Snowflake punch- MS Crafts
  • Ribbon
  • Snowflake stamps- CC's Designs
  • glitter
  • Clear Glaze- Alene's
  • Flower soft
  • Acetate
  • Cardstock- Bazzil
  • Distress inks- Ranger

August OCS- Asian Card Challenge

Since my buddy Linda took over the OCS, she's issued us some challenges! Last month's challenge was to use words as your focal point and boy was that hard for me! This month's challenge was a bit easier and oh so inspiring! She asked us to make an asian themed card. I love asian themed stamps, paper, etc. so I couldn't decide what to do for my card.
While purchasing Cupcake Anya from the TGF website, I shopped around to see if there were any other digis I wanted and decided on Karate Anya. I've always thought she was so cute but didn't think I had any use for Anya in her gee... and then it hit me! Her hairdo reminded me of Chun Li (any Street Fighter fans out there?) or Shampoo (any Ranma fans??), so I thought I could definitely do some altering and utilize that cute 'do. (or maybe she has the Princess Leia's donut rolls?).
Since the challenge was an asian theme, I thought it would be perfect to put Karate Anya's head on Geisha Anya's body. Honestly, I'm not that fond of Geisha Anya's head, so this was an exciting idea I couldn't wait to try. I think this was my first time altering an Anya. I cheated and just cut the kimono off of Geisha and put it on Karate. Sort of like paper dolls. I think it would freak me out to cut off Karate Anya's head!
Enough of my issues... for the rest of the card, I decided to use some washi paper scraps and Island Scrapbooking mini sakura laser cuts. Love how its cut with the glitter paper so I don't have to go over it with my stickles. Finished it off with a Hero Arts Kanji thank you stamp. Because gold mirrored cardstock is so scarce nowdays, I decided to use some old gold origami type paper instead. Since its a card (and not scrapbook), don't need to worry about being archival safe.
Here's a close up of Karate Geisha Anya. I added bows to each bun. Her kimono was colored with Copics and Spica (glitter) pens. I kinda like how the gold came out.
And as a tribute to my friend Teri... I decorated the inside of the card! My OCS partner this month was Myra... Hi Myra! Hope you like this card! I met Myra at one of Teri's classes awhile ago. She is so sweet and I'm so glad she started her own blog. Check it out here...
Supplies:
  • Karate Anya- TGF
  • Geisha Anya clothes- TGF
  • Thank you kanji- Hero Arts
  • Thank you sentiment (inside)- CC's Designs
  • Sakura- Island Scrapbooking laser cuts
  • border punch- SU
  • Oval and scallop oval punch- SU

Wishing You Lots Of Everything Wonderful

Since I had made the double side step card, decided to do another side step card. Since I haven't used Gigi in awhile, thought she matched this groovy paper and decided to ink her up. Doesn't she look like she's going shopping with her handbag? That's what I'm gonna be doing on my trip home! Anyway, hope you are having a great weekend!

Rain or Shine

Someone asked me to make another Double Step Card. I haven't really made one since my monkey card that I did for class. Guess I haven't been inspired in awhile for this layout and had to put my thinking cap on. Resorted to my favorite Doodlebug polka dot papers for some color inspiration. Also thought the Miss Anyas were a good match for the sides of the card since they are long and lean. I remember seeing this sentiment somewhere and thought it would be a great match to pair up with the Rain/Shine Miss Anyas! So that's how my card came together... hope you like it! Supplies:
  • Miss Anyas- TGF
  • DP- Doodlebug
  • Cardstock- Georgia Pacific, Bazzil

Yahoo! Another four day weekend! We have Admissions Day off and then we have our furlough day on Monday! I'm also excited because I'm off to Honolulu for some R&R. Family is staying home this time so I'm heading for a fun filled weekend of doing what I like. Anyway, made this card for Island Scrapbooking. Guess I was in a flowery kind of mood. I actually like the colors of this card and hope I remember to use it again. Have some posts already scheduled so hope you check back again this weekend to see what I've been up to. Otherwise catch you later alligator!

Sending Good Thoughts...

I promised you another easel card right? I love how this one came out! Used the Anya from the Spotlight set (not sure what her name is so I'll refer to her as Spotlight Anya) and decided to go with red. Used the same flower background stamp from my last easel card but this time, mounted it on Doodlebug DP. The single flower and sentiment come in the same clear set, which made it really easy! Here's a close up of Spotlight Anya... Supplies:
  • Spotlight Anya- TGF
  • All other stamps- Hero Arts
  • DP- Doodlebug
  • Cardstock- Bazzil
  • Stickles
  • Ribbon

I'm on a easel card roll right now! Made this easel card using my new Hero Arts stamp set that is perfect as a background. It was a lot of coloring, but I like how it turned out. Added some stickles and crystals for some bling and then mounted it on a background using MS punches.
Decided to make Fleur Anya stand out by coloring her in yellow.
Here's the card when its opened...

  • Friends to the end sentiment- CC's Designs

Happy Belated Birthday Teri!

I've made a few blogging friends on this journey of mine, and one that I met in person is Teri. I ended up taking a couple of classes from her along the way and have learned so much from her that I thought I'd send her a little something for her b-day. Since she likes pink (and so do I!), I jumped at the chance to use my new pink polka dot cardstock. It took me a few days to decide on the right stamp, but I ended up choosing this bear stamp by Lily of the Valley. Thought it was cute since she was holding a birthday cake. Also got some of those Wild Orchid Crafts roses and added it on for some accent... Since Teri always makes the inside of her cards just as pretty as the outside, I decided to do the same for her... Here's the inside of her card.... Now for the gift box. Used the A2 box instructions from Splitcoast Stampers to make this box. Although I wasn't giving her cards, the size was perfect for the goodies I wanted to send. Added on the Anya from the Spotlight set, which I got from Tamiko's. Added on more roses and a bow to hold the box closed. Took this photo to show you that I used the same polka dot paper for the box base and punched the cover with the MS doily lace punch. Hope you like it Teri!
Supplies:
  • Spotlight Anya- TGF
  • Bear stamp- LOTV
  • Doily lace punch- MS Crafts
  • Ribbon
  • Daisy border punch- MS Crafts
  • Stickles
  • Roses- Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Sentiments- Hero Arts

Seize The Cupcake

Couldn't resist getting this Cupcake Anya digi! I know cupcakes are getting old, but I'm not tired of them yet! Decided to bust out my old Cupcake card die again since I haven't used it in awhile. Its the perfect background for Cupcake Anya- don't ya think? Here's what it looks like when you pull up the cupcake... And here's a close up of Cupcake Anya herself... Supplies:
  • Cupcake Anya- TGF
  • Sentiments- Hero Arts
  • Stickles
  • Cardstock- Bazzil
  • DP- Sorry! These were all scraps!
