Easter Goodies

Since my two nieces live in California, I have to work on Easter stuff for them way in advance. They both love Hello Kitty, so naturally I had to use Hello Kitty to decorate their baskets. I chose the Hello Kitty in the bunny costume and mounted it on the existing bunny/chick characters that were already on the basket. I also cut strips of paper to weave in and out of the basket. The cute Hello Kitty bunnies were from Target- what a find yah? Now I wish I bought the other Hello Kitty die with the bunny ears! Happy (early) Easter girls!
I also made these goodie boxes for the girls at Island Scrapbooking. These are the boxes that I learned to make from Cheryl's blog. The first one was made with the Dandelion Designs chick. The image was cut using Spellbinders circle and Quickutz scallop circle dies. The egg border is a Sizzix Decorative Strip. Speaking of the egg border, it sure is cute, but it sure is a lot of work!
This box was made with the Dandelion Designs Bunny. Image was cut using the Spellbinders oval and scallop oval dies. The DP is by Bo Bunny.
This next box was decorated using the new Nancy Kubo digital designs. I just love her stuff- its soooo cute! The border (which you can't really see) is little chicks in different colors. The bunny was printed on white cardstock and cut from the Spellbinders circle dies and Quickutz scallop circle dies.
Finally, the last box is another Nancy Kubo design. The flowers is part of the Spring Borders set (same as the chicks). The chick image was printed on white cardstock and cut (again) from Spellbinders circle dies and Quickutz Scallop Circle dies.
The last Easter goodies I needed to make was for my daughter's class. I decided to make the take out box (Sizzix XL die) into an Easter basket- like the class I taught last month. Since I get bored easily, I decided to make the boxes in different spring colors. To decorate each box, I printed up some more of Nancy Kubo's Hunny Bunnies designs. They are soooooo cute! To add an easter egg feel to the box, I used my new Sizzix Hello Kitty Decorative Strips that came in a rick rack, diamond and circle designs. Each Hunny Bunny was cut from Spellbinders circles and Quickutz scallop circles.
Aren't these eggs cute? Who doesn't like bunny cupcakes?
Hope the Easter Bunny fills your basket with goodies (the chocolate kind!). Happy Easter!

CONGRATS LES!

One of my BFFs- Les of Les' Photos had one of her photos featured on the Today Show!!! Awesome Les! To view the segment, click here... Her photo is the hula bunny peeps. She's posted the other photos she took for the National Geographic photo contest. My other favorite is the Surfer Bunny Peeps and the Sunbathing Bunny Peep- you can see those on her blog (see link above). Congratulations Les!

Happy Good Friday!

I just love holidays. Now that I work for government, I get to enjoy ALL of the holidays! Woo hoo! Enough about being off...
Got my new Labels #1 set the other week and remembered seeing several people making owl bags using this shape (actually I think they used the SU Top Note die, but I don't have that) for the owl's head. I made the owl's wings using a scalloped oval die and cut it in half. The feet were made by cutting the scalloped oval into a triangle (I used 3 scallops as my guide). The beak was cut free hand. I cut the eyes using circle punches by Marvy. This owl reminds me of the owl on the old tootsie pop commercial... how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? 1-2-3... 3! Guess I just showed you how dorky I am.
Here's another card I made just for fun. I like the saying "Seize the cupcake", so I wanted to use it on something. I cut the cupcake out using a Sizzlits die and then embossed the frosting using the Cuttlebug swirls embossing folder. Then I filled in all the swirls with stickles.
Supplies:
Cardstock- Bazzil
Cupcake die- Sizzix
Scallop circle and lables dies- Spellbinders
Pearl bling- Hero Arts
Sentiment stamp- Hero Arts
DP- Imaginisce
Glitter- Stickles
My last card was made using my new Hero Arts stamp set. I think I just liked the font they used and the words are cute- nothing I had before. I decided to keep it simple this time and stick to the basics.
Supplies:
DP- Sorry! I can't find the paper company name! I'll re-post it when I find out!
Labels die- Spellbinders
Cardstock- Bazzil
Happy Happy Birthday stamp- Hero Arts
Gotta go get ready to take my daughter to the annual Easter Egg Hunt! Maybe I'll get another good picture again this year! (That picture still "cracks" me up!)

Baby Shower Prizes

Yup, we have another shower coming up at work.... I think there's something in the water because our staff is slowly becoming pregnant one-by-one. Anyway, our next shower is in a few weeks. I volunteered to make a few prizes.... Here's what I came up with so far- notebooks (again). Since this shower's theme was not Hello Kitty like the last one was, I thought I'd lay off the Hello Kitty stuff this time. Anyway, since these notebooks are quick and easy to make, I whipped up a bunch in a couple of days. I wanted to get something done to donate, so now there's less pressure on me to produce. I'm still going to try to get some recycle bags made, but in case I don't, at least I'll have something to give.

Plumber Girl

As promised in an earlier post, here's my scrapbook layout of last year's egg hunt. We only have one child, so she has no one to go egg hunting with. We ended up taking her to the community egg hunt where she could hunt eggs (not that they are really hunting though) with others her age. I guess she got so excited that she didn't even realize her pants was falling down! Here's a closer photo so you know what I'm talking about. This picture cracks (cracks, get it?) me up every time I look at it. I should keep a copy at work to make me laugh when I'm having a bad day. Hope it gives you a good laugh too.

Hanko Designs Copy Cat

I was browsing the Hanko Designs website and found card that I really liked the design of. When it comes to craft stuff, I become a bit obsessive until I can figure out how things are made. I think the slot is a little too big for the strip I used- guess I'll have to play around with it to get it right. Anyway, I'm just happy I figured out how they did it!

Hello Kitty Cards

Hi Everyone! It's Aloha Friday... can't wait for the weekend to start. As I was working on some Easter goodies, I took a break and decided to work on some cards and another sample for Michele to use in her store.
This first card was made using my new Hello Kitty with Bonnet embosslit. I decided to layer her clothes (and hat) using pink cardstock. Her whiskers were colored in using a black glaze pen by Sakura. It sure beats cutting and gluing on those whiskers! (Yes, even using my xyron to adhere whiskers is kind of a pain). I think I need to get a yellow glaze pen so I can color in her nose. Right now its still white. Her hat flowers and wreath flowers were embellished with Hero Arts Bling. The Swiss Dot paper and cardstock used for Hello Kitty is by Bazzil. I really don't know why I made this card- I think I just wanted to use my new die! Now that I made it, I think I'm going to use it as a Happy Birthday card for my niece.
I made this next card for a baby luau we are going to this weekend. I have no idea if they like Hello Kitty, but I guess that's too bad for them! :) Hello Kitty die used is by Sizzix and cardstock
used is by Bazzil. I pretty much used the same papers that are in the above project. The Happy Birthday sentiment is a Sizzix die from their sentiment's set. Almost forgot, the yellow cardstock was cut from the Spellbinders Labels 4 (I think its #4) die set. I really like this set- maybe even more so than the Labels 1 set (seen below).
Finally, I tried making a bag using the Spellbinders Labels 1 die for Michele at Island Scrapbooking. These dies are more squareish than I imagined. Guess I thought it would be more rectangular. Anyway, the Hello Kitty Bigs head die just fit on the largest Label's die. I was able to fit a few pieces of candy inside. This is a great party favor (very fast to make) or goodies for any occasion. Have a great weekend!

Spellbinders Butterflies

I just love layering with the Spellbinders Butterflies dies! You can create the illusion of the butterfly's wings fluttering by adhering the center portion of the butterfly and letting the wings pop out at you. I CASE'd this box from Cheryl at Life is Sweet. Cheryl has such great ideas. I had that box die for awhile now and I would have never thought of putting it together as she did. Thank you Cheryl for the great tutorial!
Here's the back of the box...
I fell in love with this color combination when I went into Island Scrapbooking and saw a card made by Tracy using the same color scheme (turquoise, brown, and green). I guess I couldn't those colors out of my head and decided to use them in this box.
Supplies used:
Spellbinders Butterflies dies
Spellbinders Circle Nestabilities
Cardstock- Bazzil
Printed cardstock- Stamping Station
Flowers- Prima
Crystal Stickers- Mark Richards
Gold paper- Hanko Designs
Friend sentiment- Sizzix Sizzlits Sentiment Set
Box Die- Sizzix XL dies
I made a coordinating treat bag using the same color scheme and same butterfly dies. I covered Hershey's Nuggets with the same paper used in the box and then embellished each one with a paper flower. The topper was made by cutting a scallop circle using Spellbinders and then folding it in half. I then used my gold glitter stickles to add some bling to the edges. The topper was secured by punching holes and adding a bow.
Have a great week!
